The 2005 Ford Mustang is completely redesigned.

Pros:
  • Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a solid axle suspension can get, slick retro interior, much improved cabin ergonomics.
Cons:
  • No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support.

I purchased a 2005 mustang on Dec 27,2004. The car has broken down 4 times and the dealership has had it 17 days trying to fix it. Do Not buy one. The kinks are not worked out. The 3rd time it broke down on me I was doing 70 miles down I-95 and the whole car cut out and just stopped running. Do Not buy until 2006. The throttle is the problem and they seem not to be able to fix it. This will be my last American made car.

I cant keep this car out of the shop. Rear end AND tramission been replaced twice, trunk swicth, stereo as well, seat belts wont unlock sometimes, and battery dies often. Ford doesnt want to do anything about it. Interior looks good but is cheap plastic and rattles ALL the time. I was a ford mustang guy until i got this car. Oh yeah, pumping gas takes forever.

I have been through 2 Mustangs. The first one the engine locked up at 400 miles and now I have another one and the transmission is messing up. I love my car but it seems that they have too many problems.

This has got to be the most boring car I have ever owned. The inside is disgusting! Worse design I have ever seen in a car. It looks like something from the 70s with no form. Everything is just flat and boring. As for driving... the horse power is ok. With some aftermarket mods you can make it handle and move a lot better. Its better than the old mustang but no where near European or Japanese sports cars. Still cant take corners at anything like the speed a car like this should. Outside design is cool but doesnt make up for the rest of the car. Problems several electrical connections werent connected in the factory. Wheel and tire problems with shuddering, replaced O2 sensor already.

I have always bought Fords, but this one is junk. I garage and care for my car. Serviced only through Ford, I do not beat on this thing and for some unknown reason: 1) The battery dies 2) Car decides to stop running 3) Brakes lock up. My next car is a Toyota. If Ford goes belly up after 5 years, they brought it on themselves.

I bought a 2005 Premium Convertible. My first car Ive bought on my own. So far Ive had it in twice for the fuel pump and Im taking it in to get the top replaced because the rear defroster stopped working. Ive had the gear shifter replaced in it. Im not happy camper with this car. If it wasnt for all these problems, Id absolutely love this car. Rides great, minus the time it stopped running on the middle of I-95. Love driving with the top down, love the audio in it. Maybe I just got a bad pony. But I wont ever buy a Ford again, the service is awful.

Had my car for 4 days and drove it twice before I noticed a knock from the wheels as I made some hard turns, any direction will do, from a stationary position. I was told that the manufacturer was aware of this "ping" but doesnt know how to fix because they dont know where its coming from. Since this unknown "ping" is from the steering, I guess Ill have to pray real hard for a safe trip in my new car.

  • Transmission Blues - 2005 Ford Mustang

This Mustang was made on 04 April and arrived on 22 April. Two major problems one being the gas tank and error message. A new sensor has been added to the gas tank but the problem still exists with the gauge showing 1/2 tank when the tank in full. The second problem is the transmission slipping into neutral for about a second lately while the shifter is in drive, then bumping into gear. Transmission is being replaced under warranty.

I just leased the GT premium, and its a monster off of the line! If you are just looking for 0-60s, then get this car (better buy than the Pontiac GTO)! The new Mustang is a huge improvement over its predecessors...but when comparing it against the 350Z or the RX8, you just dont get the type of handling like those cars. GT will smoke the 350Z, RX8, and maybe a WRX STi; but it doesnt handle like them. GT is also gas, and be prepared to stop at the pumps frequently! I also had trouble with the front wheel barrels twice since i got it...but they fixed it for no extra charge (under warranty).

The car is nice looking. But thats about as far as it goes. There is no back seat room. The dash and instrument panel are very inexpensive, looking like something you would find in a $10K car. Even the leather seats have room for improvement. The automatic transmission clunks when you put it in gear. The rear end feels like your riding on marbles. The list goes on. My wife wanted this car for its looks and from driving it, thats all it has.
