This Year's Model Updates:

2001 Ford Mustang GT models get unique hood and side scoops, so that you can tell 'em apart from V6 models. They also receive standard 17-inch wheels, and V6 Convertibles get 16-inch wheels as standard. All cars have a revised center console and blacked-out headlights and spoilers. The Mach 460 stereo system comes with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. A new "premium" trim line is created for both V6 and V8 models. After a one-year hiatus, the Ford SVT Mustang Cobra returns for 2001.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power, competent chassis and brakes, good crash test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, dorky-looking fake hood and side scoops, poor stereo ergonomics.

  • Never get a Ford - 2001 Ford Mustang

All this car has gave me is troubles. I thought a Cobra can be floored once an awhile? But all it did was crack the head, gasket leak, and throttle body defects. I had to take it back to the dealer which gladely fixed it but for me to come back. I would say it has kick ass power, but lacks the quality I paid for it.

Well I bought the Cobra hoping to have a fun and fast sports car with only normal maintenance required. Boy was I wrong. The brakes squeal constantly. I bought the car from waldorf ford who refuses to honor my warranty or any of the arrangments made by the SVTOA. The squeal is ridiculous. Also the exhaust system was leaking CO2 into the cabin of my car.I am very disappionted not only in the car, but in ford in general.

After leasing Ford Mustangs for 12 years that covered 3 GTs fully equipped - I learned the hard lesson of buying a Ford. My last Mustang GT had so many various problems that Ford continued to ignore that my engine blew with 61k miles. I have had 2 tune ups. oil changes on time, a new fuel filter, 5 new coils and so on. Ford takes no responsibility in their failures and the defective Mustang. I am never never going to buy a American car again. Not only because it was a horror on wheels but worse - a corporate giant like Ford wanted to rip me off for $7,000 dollars to fix again - (my mechanic $1,000) - never again will I be caught in American cars. I learned my lesson and they lost a customer forever.

COMPLAINTS, ONE BEING THE BRAKES, COME TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAD TO BE RE CUT, I ALSO FEEL THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT FUNCTIONING 100% THEY HAVE CHECKED IT 5 TIMES ALREADY, BUT THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT IT DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY OR AS SMOOTHLY AS IT SHOULD, UPON STOPPING SOMETHINGS IT FEELS THAT EITHER THE TRANNY OR THE ENGINE WANTS TO KEEP GOING AND FEELS THAT ITS GOING TO FY RIGHT OUT THE FRONT OF THE CAR, OF COURSE WHEN IT HAS BEEN IN & THE TECH TAKES A TEST DRIVE OF COURSE IT DOES NOT HAPPEN,
