  • The empire has struck back - 2006 Ford Fusion

My overall review is very positive. The car is extremely comfortable with ample leg room for a six footer. With the front seat all the way back there is more than enough room in the back. The 5 speed automatic really helps with the gas mileage. I get over 36 mpg on the highway going up and down the rolling Ozark hills. I was going to purchase a Corolla or a Mazda3 when my wife keyed me onto this gem. The Mazda3 was overpriced and actually purchased the Fusion for less the the quote I received the Mazda3. In the south Corollas are rare with side air bags. Without bags they have poor crash ratings. The Fusion without side bags gets 4 out of 5 stars! Test drive one before making your final decision.

  • Nice Car - 2006 Ford Fusion

Overall this is a nicely done car. Styling is much more distinctive than the Japanese, but the mechanicals are still not as refined. The engine could use a bit more torque, but horsepower is good once you get the revs up. Interior is very attractive with the piano black trim - although Im concerned about scratches. Overall I would recommend it, especially since its several $1000 less than a similarly optioned Accord.

Just got a 2006 V6 SEL with black leather interior and safety package and upgraded stereo. Overall a successful design. Handling is very good and it has a quiet and comfortable ride without being too isolated. Despite having plenty of power at the front wheels it still has a good steering feel and no noticeable torque steer. Ford succeeded in finding a good balance between handling and comfort. The optional perforated leather seats are very comfortable and look great to boot. However little design details display Fords lowest bidder supplier mentality: cheap plastic analog clock, no cabin air filter! (allows outside dust on black dash and vents), cheap looking instrument panel.

  • Ford Fusion SEL - 2006 Ford Fusion

The car is fun to drive and handles well in the SEL model. Road noise is very low for this price of car. A great addition for Ford to compete against the Japanese models (Nissan, Honda, Toyota).

Best car I ever had. Got the Merlot Red finish, with black cloth seats. The cloth seats are softer than the leather, though the leather ones are better looking. Transmission is smooth, love the added extras like the buttons on the steering wheel that work the cruise control, volume on the radio and the temperature control on the climate control. Other nice features are the autodimming mirror and moon roof. Best of all, the car has great handling on the road, hugging the corners with ease. I did 70 and barely went above 2000 rpms. Nice.

  • Tried it, like it - 2006 Ford Fusion

My husband works for Ford and it was time to turn in the car I had so I decided to lease the 2006 Ford Fusion. There werent that many on the lot, so I took an SE I4. I like it, its comfortable, rides smooth, and nice.

  • They should have done better - 2006 Ford Fusion

Styling aside, it seems like an earnest attempt by Ford to build a solid and practical car for comfortable urban driving. Unfortunately, they are not paying attention to the fine points that their competition thrives on such as exterior finish and attention to detail -- points that have been the downfall of most domestic manufacturers since the imports started eroding their market share. Call it sloppiness or inattention, the car has obvious defects easily seen by any sighted person. Picked a new Fusion SEL two weeks ago with bad paint on the hood, an obviously deformed interior door handle, and misfit or misaligned exterior parts.

This car is not equipped as good as a lot of other cars, no outside temp, no mist on the wipers, lots of plastic inside, very cheap. The fabric on the seat - everything sticks to it. If my dealer would have been sure this is the car I wanted, instead of just a sale, maybe the SEL was the one I needed. Looking around for a good deal to trade it off, will not buy another Ford. Power is Ok. Its mine, I bought it, will drive till I get a good deal on a new car. Selling factor was 72 months at 0%. Just to let you all know, this is my 25th new car,and the only one I am not happy with, not all bad but a bad choice for me, at $22,000 lots of better choices out there,

  • Good Car - 2006 Ford Fusion

Ive had the car since March 2006. It drives great and I really like it. There are a few problems but the dealership is happy to fix them for me. I had a bad door seal, which made a whistling sound while driving and my lumber support in my seat broke and my door lock. The dealership fixed all those things quickly. Overall, it is a great car and I would recommend it.

Best value for the dollar and fun to drive. Its good to have a 4 door with a sports car look. The only thing I worry about is the aluminum engine. Is it going to be a good idea to make an all aluminum engine?
