  • 2014 Focus SE Hatchback: Buy a manual transmission - 2014 Ford Focus
    By -

I recently came to terms with the fact that my 1983 VW GTI was no longer serving my family needs. I held on to it for many years because it was the most reliable and fun car Ive ever owned. After test driving several cars and not loving any of them, I drove a Focus hatchback with a manual transmission. It was like driving a new version of my GTI. I often find excuses just to drive it because its so much fun. I love everything about it. I handles like a much more expensive, performance car. I hear so many complaints about the Focus. However, almost all are about the DCM Automatic transmission. If you want a great, fun car, buy the manual transmission version. Im very glad that I did.

  • Makes driving fun in this segment - 2014 Ford Focus

Had a 2012 Focus SE, actually purchased in 2011, and only issue it had in 4 years was a software fix for the Dual Clutch transmission. After the new software was installed it was fine. SO with the great rebates and incentives on 2014 Focuss I traded in the 2012 for a 2014 to get much more content for only a few more dollars a month. Looks great and drives great, so far.

  • The Best compact car in reasonable price - 2014 Ford Focus

My first time to own Ford, most Asian people scared American cars for less reliability but not like the 1990s, now American cars even better than the Japanese cars in both quality and comfort. The Focus beats the famous nameplates of Civic and Corola in both power and comfort and much cheaper price. I love my Focus my wife and my son also love to drive it than my Altima. Small but when I drive, I feel like big car-- quiet, smooth, and quick to turn the corner or on the free way and great fuel economy. And I paid the lowest price for the year end 2014 clearance. I will buy the other one for my son when he go to college next year.

  • Very pleasantly surprised! - 2014 Ford Focus

Ive owned import cars for years and was planning on buying a Mazda3 but just couldnt pass up the price on the Focus. After incentives it was $6,000 below a comparable 3. Im glad I did. Ive had it for 9 months and 15,000 miles and I love it! Its comfortable, quiet, efficient, stylish, and well built. It feels light but solid at the same time. Great suspension allows for a perfect ride/handling balance. I enjoy getting into it every day. I opted for the manual transmission SE with sport package. Glad I did because I rented a Titanium with auto trans and hated it. Like two different cars. Its true: The auto has issues. And the MyFord Touch was annoying. Simple is better here.

  • I love my focus - 2014 Ford Focus

I bought my car a few months back and while it may be a bit soon to review I have to say I love this car. I can fit a disturbing amount of shenanigans into my focus. I have 2 children a well over 6 foot husband and our family dog. We all manage to pile in with room to spare. It handles much better than my previous cars on the highway. All my cars have been 4cyl hatchbacks and I have to say that EVERY one of them was miserable at highway speeds. The focus doesnt even sweat at the 75mph limit here in KS. I read the awful reviews of the automatic and I opted for the familiar old 5 speed instead. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for small cheap car with tons to offer.

  • Very Smooth & Sporty - 2014 Ford Focus

Im so happy that I decided to buy this car. It is very smooth, nimble, agile, and sporty. The titanium hatchback model could compare to most of expensive luxury sub compact European cars. You feel very stable when driving this car specially on tight turns. With only 2.0 engine, it feels very strong and the car can accelerate much quicker compare to other sub compact cars with the same engine size.

  • This is a great car! - 2014 Ford Focus

I thought this car was going to be too small, but I was very wrong. My husband is 64" and he sits comfortably in the driver and passenger seats. The look of the car is stylish, and it handles very well. The manual transmission shifts beautifully. It was a great value, too! Overall, this is a great car. My only complaint is the lack of leg room in the back seat. As a result, this is not our main family car because we have 2 growing kids and another on the way. But for just my husband and I, the car is great.

  • Surprised - 2014 Ford Focus

Test drove 2014 Ford Focus SE 5spd, and was surprised. Thought it would be too small, that wouldnt like "overly busy" infotainment area of car. Liked it, bought one. Good manual transmission. Heard people didnt like auto trans. Had driven dual clutch auto-manual vws, didnt like. Car is small, need to plan out where to put things, small car ride. Could use a sixth gear on highway, but fun to drive, feels well-made. Getting 39mpg+ on ride back and forth to work. Curvy, hilly back roads. Do upshift when lighted arrow tells me to do so. Seems engine would lug, but it doesnt. Am in fifth gear by 35mph! Very likable car. Got great deal. First black car. Handsome.

  • First New Car - 2014 Ford Focus

This is "my" first brand new car and I have to say, it is wonderful. My wife bought a brand new Mitsubishi in 2011 and my Focus has been a better experience all around.

  • Ford Focus Sedan SE - 2014 Ford Focus

I have always driven Hondas and Toyotas, this is my first Ford purchase and I absolutely love the car. I did a lot of research, test drove many similar priced vehicles and I loved my Focus the moment I test drove it. The car has great visibility, engine is very quiet. The transmission is a little slow to react at times, but that could be because I am used to driving a clutch. The engineers at Ford really put a lot of time into many of some of the little details a few examples, you can roll the windows up after the car has turned off, and the radio stays on until you open the door. I am overall very pleased with both my car and the buying experience. Highly recommend this car.
