This Year's Model Updates:

The Standard trim level is replaced by the Work trim level. XLT and Lariat models get standard four-wheel antilock brakes, and the XLT gets standard air conditioning. All SuperCab models get a fourth door and horsepower is improved for engines across the board. Option content is shuffled and simplified as Ford reduces the number of optional features.

Pros:
  • Near perfect interior design and materials. Four doors on the SuperCab. Improved engine output. Excellent off-road capability.
Cons:

  • So far so good - 1999 Ford F-150

Bought my first domestic truck recently and so far it has worked well. Brakes leave a little to be desired. Build quality is not on par with the imports, but Ive come to expect that from the domestic auto makers.

  • What a great vehicle - 1999 Ford F-150

I had always owned imports because of the reliability, 115,000 miles later the only thing I have done to this truck is put gas in it and change the oil and one set of tires. It runs like new, drives like new. Amazing Great work Ford! The only complaint I have is the wind noise while on the Highway could be quieter, I guess 2004 fixes this. I have the 4.6 V8 and get about 17-19 mpg on this truck. I will be buying a new super crew to replace this as my kids are getting older.

  • My first truck! - 1999 Ford F-150

This is my first experience with a truck, as I have been shopping for several years. Have rented several brands, for short periods of time, mainly Rangers & S10s. I am really glad I went with the F150 (full size), as it is much better driving, than the smaller pick-ups. What a dream to drive, especially on the road. It is one, great truck!

I have had my truck for 2 years now, & am still very pleased with it.I use it to pull trailers weighing from 1500- 8000lbs. The 4.6 with a 5-speed isnt the most powerful engine on the block, but it does okay, even when the truck is grossly overloaded. This truck is the best truck ever in the mud, with 32" mud tires it is almost unstoppable.

  • Great Truck but WEAK TRANSMISSION - 1999 Ford F-150

Great truck except for the total transmission failure @ 65,000. All service had been done but Ford said tuff luck and I paid $2400 for a replacement from Ford

  • Ford the best built, best looking truck - 1999 Ford F-150

My 1999 F-150 Lariat S/C flareside has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. The truck has 79,000+ miles on it and has not had a wrench touch it other than regular oil and filter changes, and tire rotation. I have the 4.6 litre engine which has plenty of power for my needs. It has the limited slip rearend and I get 18 mpg on highway. I hate to see Ford change the body style in 2004. Ive seen the new body style and dont like it compared to the 1997 through 2003 body style. I would like to buy a new 2003 Lariat 4x4 crewcab before all of them are sold. They are the best looking truck on the road by far.
