  • Most Versatile Vehicle! - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The Sport Trac ("ST") excels as an automotive Swiss army knife. It has decent performance and handling, seats five in comfort, functions surprisingly well as a pickup, and handles snowy roads with aplomb. And unlike the Chevy Avalanche, it doesnt look like it was designed by a committee. Simply the most versatile vehicle Ive ever owned!

  • I LOVE my Sport Trac! - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I ordered my Sport Trac on Oct.19, 2001. I ordered evrything that was offered and then I waited till Dec.26 when it came in I also had the dealer order and put on the automatic headlights, bug deflector for the front, side window deflectors, rear cargo mat and custom mud flaps. I also just had it stripped with silver metallic sparkle double stripe tape last week. I now have 2300 miles on it and I will admit it gets about the same mileage as my FULL SIZE Ford Econoline. I really dont know if it will get 15 to 20 MPG like the window sticker said anymore. I give it a rating of 9.5! I also do wish you could get the same options for the Sport Trac as you can get for the regular Explorer.

  • Heart BRAKER - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I love the look of the vehicle, very sporty chic looking, Ive had it two years and have had to replace the brakes twice and the rotors once, which I believe to be sub standard from the factory, and now have my suspicions about the bearings as well! Im a female, miles are all highway, and I do not do heavy braking. Im getting a LOT of road noise frequently from the front end, when its checked, its the brakes or the rotor. Now Im suspecting the bearings are bad! For my driving style, this is unacceptable for a vehicle of this type/cost to be having so many wheel problems. If used as a mans truck, worked, it would not survive long I fear. Im worried, so I bought the extended warranty!

  • Good Choice - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I bought this brand new with 4 miles. I have never had any problems except for the poor quality factory tires and of course the brakes and rotors. I have had 2 sets of pads and the rotors turned at 64000. Now after changing to Mich tires LTX at 30000 miles and new pads and rotors turned at 64000 it drives as new if nor better. This truck has been from TN to Idaho 4 times.

  • "Oh... I like that!" - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The Ford Sport Trac is a kick @ss ride. A vehicle which can not be duplicated (although has been tried.. Avelanche...). The uniqueness of this truck/suv is absolutley somthing not to miss. A Full 4 door cabin, center console, and a bed sized enough for a daily trip to the shoppes and large anough for a cammute to Home Depot. What absolutely gets me with this truck/suv, is that the 4.0L V-6 engine has enough power to get a thrill out of. Producing 210 Hpr, this engine does its job. Quiet, and smooth they maid it, Fords 4.0 IS THE BEST.

  • Be Careful - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I bought this truck with under 65,000 miles on it, and never had a problem. As soon as I turned it over to 90,000 miles a lower rod broke in my engine and a couple thousand dollars later, here I sit. I had loved this truck, but am very reluctant to buy Ford again. I changed oil every 3000 miles and get up maintenance.

  • Sport Trac hauls whole family in comfort - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

When I found out that I was expecting my second child, I knew I needed a bigger vehicle. I searched every make and model for the most comfortable, powerful, smoothest ride, and of couse, the most price efficient truck or SUV I could find. I bought the Sport Trac with the rear A/C, which my 6 year old loves, and the hard tonneau cover and bed extender, which makes the bed into the perfect trunk for groceries or traveling. Definately worth the money!! And the estate green is very attractive!

  • 6 Years and NO PROBLEMS - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

We love our Sport Trac. Our rule is when a car breaks down, we fix it then get rid of it. We have had our Sport Trac since January 2001 and have approximately 58k miles. We purchased an extended warranty but never had to use it. We have replaced our other car three times in the past 6 years. We did all of our regular maintenance, but no other repairs. In fact, we have original brake pads and tires. The only semi-complaint I can think of is it does not have the best turning radius (4x2). This is the first car that we will trade before a break down (I just want a new one).

  • Awesome - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
    By -

Yeah, its a Ford...and I rate it a 10 anyway. Honestly, I am being objective. Our Sport Trac has leather interior and a sunroof...which makes for super comfort. The gas mileage is reasonable, and as a result of 10 full tanks weve received 20 mpg on freeway. The engine runs great, and is clean and quiet. This vehicle is great for both rural and urban settings as it is easy to maneuver in city traffic as well as snow. This is the only Ford we have or will buy.

The ride comfort of the 2002 Explorer Sport Trac is exceptional. It has adequate power at all speeds thanks in part to its 5 speed automatic transmission. The 4.0L has good pwer, but fuel economy is poor.
