  • Have you replaced the Ford brakes lately - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Paint is crap and from what I am told on both the black and dark blue. The brake pads are inadequate. The customer service Ford provides is substandard at best.

I have had nothing but good luck with this vehicle. Its fun to drive and great for the dog to ride in the back seat. Plenty of room for four or five people.

  • Sport Trac takes you in style - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I love the vehicle and it rides smooth. I am a 4 time jeep owner now making the switch. The practicality of this vehicle is unmatched. All the comforts of a explorer with a pickup bed.

I purchased this vehicle because I am going to be having a child soon and needed something with more room. I chose the Sport Trac because of its unique ability to carry passengers and still haul items in the pickup bed. I also chose this vehicle because of the decent reviews it has gotten from most reviewers. Also I love the color (Island Blue)! So far I have 1450 miles on my Sport Trac.

Have had many people very interested in vehicle after purchase. Fits my dad with headroom to spare and he is 6- 4"... The only bad things about it is the fuel economy - to be expected - and wouldnt mind a small V-8 in the engine bay. Really make this baby hum. Other than that, I love it. Great SUV/Truck.

  • Love it! - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I love this truck/SUV! Ive read reviews that rag on its ability to tow, but if I wanted to tow a huge trailer, I would have bought a huge truck. If I would have wanted a people mover, I would have bought a huge Excursion. This vehicle is the best of both worlds. I can haul more than a Chevy S- 10, and its so much better looking. You cant beat the Pioneer audiophile 6- disc in-dash changer w/ subwoofer, either!

  • 2002 Ford Sport Track 4WD - Disastrous - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

We purchased a used Sport Trac from CarMax with approx 48,000 miles. Got a great price on the vehicle. Vehicle in great condition at time of purchase. Within 2 years, had to replace the engine in the truck. (Replaced with a case engine, not new.) Today, (08/06/08) the transmission is smoking and appears to be shot. The vehicle is squirrely to drive. Would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. CarMax was great, but Ford was not in the situation. I have an F-150 with almost 200,000 miles, and would not trade it for anything, but Ford really missed it with the Sport Trac! Buyer beware!

  • Great Concept - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

This SUV/Truck has great flexibility, ride and interior space. The fuel mileage is not so great (unless you have a 5 speed manual over long distances) and although I like the performance, I wish it had a little more zip. Roomy interior at the expense of the truck bed length. Overall, it is a great concept vehicle that is very flexible to everyday needs. However, there is one major dislike - the insurance industry classifies this vehicle as a SUV because of the Explorer nameplate. So the cost to insure is more than a simliar pickup truck.

I love the vehicle...its so versitile and well equipped!!! Its great, I can take the family anywhere comfortable and yet still haul stuff. I did have a problem with it when it was only 1 year old. It did not want to start, it took the dealership almost a month to figure out the problem-the idle air control valve. Other than that, Ive had no problems with it and love it!

  • brakes...break - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
    By -

Front brakes are junk! I bought this vehicle brand new and it just passed away at 187,000 miles. Engine blew last week. $$ to fix engine and of course I was at the 25,000 mile mandatory brake and rotor job. Other than that, oil changes and usual up keep along with bearings on both sides at 175,000.
