awesome suv - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By mudslinger - December 20 - 6:10 amI love my explorer, i had a little tranny trouble but it cleared up on its own the rear end went out at 140,000 miles but went to my local junk yard and picked up a posi trac rear out of an older modle sport for 60 bucks and back on the road.the posi rear was the best mod i made along with 31x10x15 on 15x10 aluminum wheels which made it wider and handles like a car, the gas milage is great for an suv i average 19 city and 21 hwy which is great considering i have a 95 taurus that gets the same mpg.

I made a mistake getting rid of mine - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By vwispos - November 9 - 3:21 amMy explorer ran so perfect I loved it. Never had a check engine light or anything! It got okay gas especially to be an SUV. Only thing I ever had to replace was rotors. I hear of some problems from them though so make sure to buy one in great condition and it will become your best friend.

good car for me - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By jefe - July 31 - 10:00 amEver since i got my 2001 ford explorer sport, ive been happy. I just bought it a couple days ago and its been fun to drive ever since. Insurance wasnt bad and 20 bucks nearly got me a 3/4 a tank worth of gas, not bad for an suv. I got it at a really good price, fully loaded XLS. I wish i found a 4x4 but im happy with my two wheel drive. really fun to drive and the engine sounds good. seats are super comfy and stereo is better than average definitely. im really happy with my car!

Very durable explorer - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By Ted - July 22 - 11:53 amI bought my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 2dr 4x4 with 138645 miles on it now it has 155,558 miles on it and it runs like when I first bought iti put in Bosch platinum 2 spark plugs changed all the fluids (trans, both axles, trans case, power steering) It runs exceptional better then all my sports cars I owned in the past in power and speed. I put in k&n filter it is pretty good on gas for a SUV. I love it! I hope it hits 300000 miles!

Love it! - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By Shinynickel - December 7 - 2:00 amI purchased the Explorer Sport in September due to the need (ha!) for a 4WD vehicle. We have had Explorers in the past and have been very happy. I love this thing! The ride is not as smooth as it could be, but its a truck for cryin out loud! Its powerful, maneuverable, fun to drive. I have no complaints so far.

Truly Ford Tough - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By Spymagician - November 15 - 7:06 pmMy second new Ford. Bought it in June of 2000, and still drive it every day. Needs only routine maintenance, and has been absolutely wonderful. The little annoying things scarcely ruin my overall satisfaction in ownership. (e.g.: The center console vinyl fell apart after about a year.) Lots of room inside. (Fit 6 bicycles and 4 people) 4-wheel-drive is powerful, if a little clunky at lower speeds when using 4-Hi, but hardly an issue as its rarely required as such. Im very happy with my truck.

By b52man - October 2 - 11:15 pmI bought this truck new in June of 2001. Since that time I have logged 158000 miles in it and it is still going strong and still used as a daily driver. I have changed the brake pads, tires, and a fuel sensor and of course have kept my oil changed every 3500 miles.

Best car Ive ever owned! - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By misspriss82 - August 9 - 10:35 pmI bought my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 2-door used in 2003 for $14k, with 25k miles on it. I now have 120k miles on it after 8 years of owning it and have decided it is time to start researching for something new. I havent had ANY problems with this vehicle. Ive had to do regular maintenance and Im just now replacing the brakes that went out this week. This has been a fantastic vehicle and I will be sad to trade it in. I think it would be a great car for a high school student learning how to drive. I did have to replace the cd player, as it stopped working.

keeps on going - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By belldawgmom3 - August 4 - 11:19 amI bought my ford with 45k miles and owned it about 8 years now. At 250k miles replaced transmission well worth it I am over 300k miles and still going strong. This suv has been all over this state with school activities football , ffa and etrc. as well on manay of hunting trips it has been used for everything you can think of. It still drives 5 miles of dirt road and 70 miles a day to work. This suv has been very good to us wish I could aford to buy another one. Thank you

nice truck - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By jwf - June 29 - 2:53 amPurchased used to try for a first SUV. Mainly around town use and weekend mountain biking. Mileage is good 17- 20, ride is truck-like (read rough) but overall a well-built vehicle. Impressed by size and strength of underbody components compared to the new sport-utes. Buying this used blew away any new vehicle when you figure out the overall $/mile it costs to run this truck. Plus it is awesome in the snow here in Michigan.
