My First Ford - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport
By john - November 5 - 8:56 pmMy Explorer sways from wind generated by traffic. Roughly every two years "check engine light" comes on. Some of the dash lights went out, had them replaced($250.00)then 8 other dashlights went out. Out of the blue one day, the rear door wouldnt open. Different day, I opened rear window and it came off in my hands. No damage has been done to the rear door,or window to give a reason for these problems. Ford recall on cruise control, will catch fire. My previous vehicle was a Toyota Corrola SR5 1600cc 2TC engine I drove for 19 years, God I miss that car.

Great Explorer Sport - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
By LifeGuardGuy248 - November 4 - 2:00 amIve had my explorer for only a week and love it. Ive put 500 miles on it so far. The gas milage isnt that great, but the power and looks make up for it. Ive got the optional sunroof and cloth seats that will be perfect for going to college. The ride isnt as smooth as my moms Crown VIcotira, but her car cant pull 4000 pounds.

Great little automatic 4x4 SUV - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By tracycali - September 8 - 8:01 pmBought in 2003 w/60000 miles on it. Now has 120,000 and still runs like new with only regular maintenance. We have family that live in the Sierras at the end of a dirt and gravel road. This little 4x4 always makes it up there no problem with all-season tires; mud, snow, whatever. I added a class 3 bolt-on 4 point hitch receiver and it tows a 3500lb boat/trailer no problem. Just had dings removed and repainted same dark teal metallic and it looks like MONEY!

Fabulously Reliable - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By Jared - September 2 - 2:00 amI bought my 2WD EX Sport 5 years ago with 70K miles. It now has 127,000. It has been a fabulously reliable vehicle-- but I do a lot of preventative maintenance on my vehicles. There are a few rattles and it rides a bit rough on bumpy roads. Only seats 4. The fabric seats look brand new. Excellent quality. Much lighter than a 4 door 4WD Explorer and is quite peppy. The silver painted finish on the console chips easily. I Average 18 MPG. 22 on the FWY. Idles a bit rough, but runs smoothly. Actually does pretty well in the snow for a 2 WD vehicle.

I kept this car - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
By kc2portland - July 30 - 1:56 amThis is the first automobile that I have kept for more than 3 or 4 years. It is very reliable. I get regular oil changes and scheduled maintainence and I have not had any problems with this vehicle. It does suck the gas a little, but since I dont have any mechanical problems, nor car payments, it doesnt seem reasonable to me to trade it in.

03 Explorer Sport - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
By mark - July 8 - 7:46 amGood trip car with lots of room for 2 and all the junk you can take with you. Will tow a 20 ft boat or car with ease. I usually leave the back seat down for hockey gear supplys bags camping gear. Gets about 22 miles per on the road with a heavy foot. iIs pretty spunky with over 200 hp will turn on a dime and give 8 cent change. Desperately needed better handling tires, useing duellers HP only true hr rated tires for the truck, stays flatter in turns and stops in the rain. Only downfall is little wind noise at hiway speeds and takes two hands to lower the back seats. Older ones could do it with one hand and thats the only complaints with the vehicle had a 91 eddie bauer 2dr before and it was great

Great Truck - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By 2k1exsport - March 28 - 11:20 amTraded a 97 F150 2WD Reg Cab, since I needed the back seat (for a 3 year old). Short wheel base makes for stiff/bumpy ride, but as long as you dont drive too fast, its not a problem. Engine is very nice, and has plenty of power. 4WD works great, and the short wheel base helps in off road situations. MPG could be better, but it is a truck! Cargo room is great, plenty of room for a sub woofer, and a few days worth of clothes, and paint supplies. I upgraded the stereo the day I bought it, so not sure how the stock stereo is. Tires are larger than expected, and treat/pattern is great for around town and the occasional light off roading. GREAT TRUCK for mid 20s people with 1 child.
