2002 Ford Explorer Sport 2WD Good so Far - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport
By rdgalley - December 15 - 10:00 amTo date I have put just under 58000 miles on my Explorer. It has been very relieable. The problems I have are fairly minor. The transmission whines a little on the shift from 1st to 2nd. The cam chain tensioner makes a rattling sound under load, and the trim panel around the radio is peeling. Other that those items I am happy with my Explorer and hope to keep it until 150000 miles.

By vwispos - November 9 - 3:21 amMy explorer ran so perfect I loved it. Never had a check engine light or anything! It got okay gas especially to be an SUV. Only thing I ever had to replace was rotors. I hear of some problems from them though so make sure to buy one in great condition and it will become your best friend.

Off-road use - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport
By rez driver - November 5 - 7:30 pmI have had this truck for over two years now. About 80% of the time off- road. When I first bought this truck I have been doing a lot of extreme off- roading with the stocked parts. It was OK the first summer the ride was very smooth over washboards then towards the fall season is when the smooth ride went away. Everytime I went over a washboard road the whole truck would shake! I have worn the suspension system to the max and never is it the same again. I have bought countless shocks and leaf springs but the smooth ride has not ever comeback. The truck is ok for the streets but is not very good for long periods of extreme off road use. Overall it is a great truck for highway use but not offroad.

By jefe - July 31 - 10:00 amEver since i got my 2001 ford explorer sport, ive been happy. I just bought it a couple days ago and its been fun to drive ever since. Insurance wasnt bad and 20 bucks nearly got me a 3/4 a tank worth of gas, not bad for an suv. I got it at a really good price, fully loaded XLS. I wish i found a 4x4 but im happy with my two wheel drive. really fun to drive and the engine sounds good. seats are super comfy and stereo is better than average definitely. im really happy with my car!

Very durable explorer - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport
By Ted - July 22 - 11:53 amI bought my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 2dr 4x4 with 138645 miles on it now it has 155,558 miles on it and it runs like when I first bought iti put in Bosch platinum 2 spark plugs changed all the fluids (trans, both axles, trans case, power steering) It runs exceptional better then all my sports cars I owned in the past in power and speed. I put in k&n filter it is pretty good on gas for a SUV. I love it! I hope it hits 300000 miles!

Still going strong - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport
