Saved my moms life - 1996 Ford Explorer
By MBailey - September 17 - 10:00 amBought used in 2001, Rides, and handles great, could be beter on gas, but hey what can you expect out of an SUV. A week ago was totaled due to an almost fatal accident. The Explorer is actually my moms... she was on her way to work when a Dodge Dakota cliped her on her passenger side, the Explorer immediately turned sideways, and flipped 4-5 times on a paved road. My mom had on her seat belt (Thank God) and had minor injurys considering the servierness of the accident everyone talks about how well the truck held up, although she will never buy an exlorer again the frame, and the safety design saved her life. Thanks Ford!!!!!

Im never giving up this car! - 1996 Ford Explorer
By Julian Novoa - October 5 - 10:55 pmI own a 1996 ford explorer limited with the 5.0 302 v8. We owned it since 2001 with 37,000miles now it has 166,000 miles we take it on road trips all the time and never has left us walking. The limited trim is absolutely luxurious and the alloy limited wheels are just pure style. I recommend this car to anyone who wants a v8 and a luxurious inexpensive SUV.

Disappointed - 1996 Ford Explorer
By Pete B. - July 22 - 2:00 amWhen Ford came out with the new (2nd. generation) 1996 Explorer I thought it was the sweetest looking truck out there. In 2000 I came across the same truck in the Eddie Bauer trim which made it even sweeter. To my disappointment for the past year and a half even with the extended warranty I have done nothing but dump more money into this truck than Ive ever had in any other vehicles Ive owned. In addition to the reliability issues Ive had with this truck is the lack of and no support I got from the area Ford Dealerships. Even with items they shouldve repaired at inceptions they did there best to ignore me.

After looking around -- keeping the car - 1996 Ford Explorer
By NJ1 - July 16 - 10:00 amI know that this car gest slammed, but after a few initial glitches (former owner cracked the head) the car has been surprisingly nice. I have put on 60K miles and have had only minor issues. Good solid well built vehicle.
