This Year's Model Updates:

Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.

But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.

Pros:
  • Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

cant compare to anything out in the market even if fords do suck the expedition seems like it is not connected to the ford company because it is one of a kind, i was more of a yukon person but the 2003 eddie bauer was top of the line even a little better than the escalade even though the escalade looks nicer but the expo is tight

I just bought a fully loaded Eddie Bauer Expedition and have already put 1000 miles on it in two weeks! It is much better than I even thought. I was between this and the Sequoia and chose the Expedition purely because of the fold flat power seat. Happy I did it and would recommend this truck over and over again.

This is a very nice vehicle, large but very easy to drive. Has a nice soft ride. Engine is very quite. I have a 21ft bass boat which it pulls very well.

Car drives great. Very comfortable for the driver and passengers. Have taken in from coast to coast and distant places in between. For a family of 5, road trips go by quickly and comfortably.

Very fun to drive, I like it alot better than my 1998 Expedition that I traded in.

This is an excellent vehicle. Plenty of power and great ride with rear IRS. The DVD player is great for the kids and is easily out of the way when not in use. Steering wheel controls for the audio and A/C are convenient and safer than hunting around the dash. Owned a Tahoe before this and will never go back. The keypad on the drivers door makes it easy to lock it and leave it running to warm up on cold mornings.

Very comfortable for short and long trips. New vehicle style improved over previous style. Doesnt drive as big as it looks. Mileage could be improved some.

One of the best purchases I have ever made, next to the house. There is plenty of room and it truly does seat 8 people comfortably. The amount of space in the back with the seats folded down is great! I can put my Expy in the garage, albeit with the sideview mirrors folded into the truck. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and she loves it too! She can see out as we are driving, she always wants to ride in the truck!

Better than Sequoia in initial quality (see JD Powers ratings). Only full size SUV with 5 star crash ratings & safety canopy. Cool folding seats. Very quiet & luxirous ride -- better than some overpriced cars. Lousy mileage. Had 1 rattle that got fixed promptly. Ford wants to charge extra for a better alarm -- hate the upselling for a $43,000-MSRP vehicle !!

  • LOVE this car - 2003 Ford Expedition

It was either this or the Suburban. But almost all of our friends own a Suburban, and the style is ho-hum. But the Expedition is fantastic -- great bold exterior. We originally selected this car because of the independent rear suspension. Even though its still an SUV, it doesnt feel as much like a truck as the Suburban. The 5.4L is a must. The power-fold and roominess of the 3rd row are excellent. It is missing the power recline, but the memory option is great for 2 drivers. The backup alert is also a must -- already saved my wife from running over 5 people who werent smart enough to wait for her to back out. And best of all, it probably saved my marriage ;)
