Overview & Reviews
Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.
But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.
- Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
- Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

03 Expedition - A great SUV - 2003 Ford Expedition
By beachdrvr - April 26 - 2:00 amThis is a great vehicle. We were looking at this truck and a Tahoe. The deciding factors were the rear suspension and the fold flat 3rd seat. It is alot more user friendy than the Tahoe. I like how it handles especially when pushed hard, nice flat driving repsonse for such a large vehicle. The engine is powerful and smooth and I think the interior has a far more quality feel to it than the domestic competion. If you are looking at a large SUV you owe it to yourself to test drive one.

Excellent built vehicle. Flawless towing - 2003 Ford Expedition
By 03fordtime - December 14 - 7:09 pmI am the second owner of a 2003 year Expedition. This truck is all stock except it has 20 inch rims in the summer. It tows my 30 foot boat with a weight of about 11,000lbs including trailer. Drove 13 hours with it and no problems at all. This truck really is impressive, nothing has failed on it yet at 100,000 miles. Awesome build quality. Cosmetically its great, engine runs like new. Vehicle is very safe and the stability control is an amazing feature. Could not be happier. All the friends love it too. Would recommend to anybody.

2003 Eddie Bauer - 2003 Ford Expedition
By lpu73@aol.com - December 8 - 10:00 amCompared this to the Chevy, Toyota and GMC SUVs of similar size. The excellent third row leg room was important to us with tall sons. We went with the captains chairs in the second row. Easy of entry is great. Sound system is just ok. DVD is nice for the long trips. We liked the Toyota Sequoia but no captains chairs so leg room in third row was poor. Gas milage about 13 in city so far. All in all very happy.
