  • Not a bad choice.... - 2000 Ford Expedition

I have had my Expedition from its birth into this world. A great vehicle for moving stuff, people and pets. I have not had any major service issues though I find I am taking the vehicle in the shop more often after 50k miles. Taking the vehicle to the shop is really the main drag in owning this Ford. The service is atrocious at my local dealer EVERYTIME!!

Couldnt be happier with my Expedition. All around great SUV and has been a pleasure to own so far. Especially love the roominess of the Expedition. Its got a ton of room, yet doesnt feel like a tank to drive. My wife went from a Escort to this and will never go back. Truly a great vehicle.

I purchased the vehicle at a low interest sale. I got a good price from the dealer. I had an Exlorer but wanted a bigger vehicle. This fit the bill. It has enough options to make it a pleasure to drive. I get around 18MPG on the road and about 13-15 in town, which surprised me. 6 CD changer sounds great. So far, so good.

This is a nice vehicle however does have issues. We love the convience and size of the vehicle but, in the 6 months we have owned the vehicle it has needed a new oxygen sensor and the airbag light remains on which I believe will be another $300 out of my pocket for a module. I find it funny that I have had many vehicles but this seems to have electrical issues in which I think for should be responsible for.

Overall have been satisfied with vehicle. The 4.6L engine is quite small for a heavy vehicle with 17"$ tires and a towing package. ABS went south at 40,000 miles ($1,000 to fix Ford/Dealer helped reduce to $200 out of pocket). Read wiper motor broke which lead to a fatigue failure of the wiper blade.

Its great for hauling around a lot of kids. I love sitting up high, because I have good visibility. The Eddie Bauer edition is the way to go.

The 5.4 liter engine has a knock that Ford ford calls a cold engine knock. Funny it knocks when you pull off of the interstate after driveing 180 miles. I would hate to see what they call a warm engine. The problem will keep me from buying another Ford. There is an obvious problem with the 5.4 engine that they are not willing to admit. I would say it was liftr rattle if it had lifters.
