Overview & Reviews
Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.
But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.
- Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
- Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

Much, Much Better than 97 Expedition - 2003 Ford Expedition
By Leo95 - July 27 - 10:00 amThe ride, fit and finish and features are much, much better than 1997 Expedition. The six middle and third row seats are all comfortable for adults and all have 3-point belts, and seats can split and fold flat. External rearview mirrors are HUGE. Rear DVD entertainment system is a hit with kids and comes with 2 wireless headphone. Kids can listen to movies while you listen to radio. Unlike other small cars, rear DVD does not eat into needed head room. Truck looks and feels much more solid and bigger than before. Handling is improved greatly. You can toss this 6000 lb truck around the bends without all the body roll and tire screetching from 97.

Great Truck!!! - 2003 Ford Expedition
By Joann Stubbs - May 17 - 10:00 amWe love this truck, even though it is a little expensive filling up the gas tank it drives like a dream and the entertainment system keeps the little one nice and quiet. This truck hugs the road great...I feel safe when we are taking long trips.

Best Full Size - 2003 Ford Expedition
By bj1289 - May 10 - 10:00 amThe new redesigned Expedition is the best over all full size in my opinion. I used to drive Chevys and GMC but not after this new Expedition. Ive had it only one year its an awesome machine! GMC is way behind with the Tahoe/Suburban. If youre a GM fan like I was, just go test drive the all new Expedition.

Second Expo, still happy - 2003 Ford Expedition
By happycamper - April 24 - 8:00 pmThis is my second Expedition. I have 102K miles and other than tires and brakes, havent touched a thing. I get respectable mileage (16+mpg)considering the size. This truck is fun to drive, handles like a much smaller vehicle. Have had problems with F series but the Expeditions are tops in my book. Tows my trailer with ease. Always plenty of power when needed.

love the vehicle, hate the brakes - 2003 Ford Expedition
By jimmiej48 - April 21 - 11:48 amLove the vehicle. Lots of storage room and comfort. Awesome on long trips with the kids if you can survive the cost of fuel. Still gets at least 12 in town and sometimes as high as 21 on highway. The biggest complaint to date though, is the brakes/rotors. With less than 57,000 miles on the truck, the brakes have been replaced twice and the rotors now three times. Would be understandable if we were crazy drivers!

Great truck - 2003 Ford Expedition
By rudi - April 3 - 11:10 amThis is a great truck. The only problem weve ever had with it was after 2 years we had to replace the alternator, and a few months ago we put a bad tank of gas in it and it ran badly, but once we got fresh gas, it runs great. Pretty peppy, even with the 4.6l v8.4wd works great. Tires stunk, replaced with Michelin xlt. Interior is nice, and roomy. Got a nice ford 9.75" rear axle and a ford 8.8 in the front sweet. Could use a cv joint in the rear driveshaft instead of the u-joint, but no biggie. Can handle mild off roading pretty well. Just hit 44,000 miles, still running great. Towing is fantastic.

2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition - 2003 Ford Expedition
By otterbout - March 24 - 2:03 amDriving and owning this 6th E.B. model in a 4-wheeler is no disappointment. My husband has the 5.4 in his Lightning and happy to say I can still see his tail lights when we leave a stop light. Dont do it often but nice to feel the supreme power and handling in a really big truck. The interior appointments include nav, DVD, htd seats and awesome sound. Greenhouse is supreme except for blind spot at A & B pillars. Easy to miss objects while backing up so like rear sensing device. Overall, Ford has done a 100 on this vehicle when it comes to design and features. General tires awful. Replaced with Goodyear Forteras for outstanding performance, handling and traction. Will get another.
