This Year's Model Updates:

Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.

But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.

Pros:
  • Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

  • Superb SUV - 2003 Ford Expedition

We love it! Smooth, quiet, well- controlled ride. Wonderful legroom throughout. Full of thoughtful features (for example, the stereo volume increases with speed). 3rd row space is awesome. All seats very comfortable. 2nd & 3rd rows fold flat - - no removal needed to accomodate cargo. Got ours for $8000 below MSRP (Dallas). Wife is primary driver and she is thrilled. Disclosure: no affiliation with Ford whatsoever.

  • 2003 Exp better than Yukon - 2003 Ford Expedition

I traded my 2001 Yukon for this large V8 SUV. I never felt comfortable backing up my YUKON. I can see behind me and around me much better in my Expedition.

  • Best built SUV in America. - 2003 Ford Expedition

Other than the fuel mileage, it is by far the best truck/SUV out on the market.

  • Great SUV - 2003 Ford Expedition

We bought our Expedition brand new and it has been great to us. Love everything about it. We had an Explorer before that we also liked but we needed a bigger car with the dogs and the boat. It is great for towing and long trips- so comfortable. I hope to drive it as long as it lasts- but I would not hesitate about getting another Expedition down the road.

I saw the new Expedition at the auto show and placed my order the next day. I was taken by the fold-flat third row seats and the sliding center seat in the second row. I love the interior styling (reminds me of an Audi). With all the chassis technology, Im expected a great driving experience.

  • 2003 Ford Expedition Rocks - 2003 Ford Expedition

We love the vehicle. We have a family of 6 plus pets and its got plenty of room for all. Rear air started making a noise at 68K miles, but otherwise its been a very reliable vehicle. Well miss this vehicle when its time to trade.

  • GREAT SUV IN ITS CLASS - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

Since Ive purchased the car, I felt so secured and superior with driving the car. Ive had good comments from on lookers and good phrases from friends who rode in it. The ride is similar to riding a luxury sedan and it has given me a good driving view in relations to seeing everything in and out of the car from the drivers chair. The only thing that Im concerned about is the gas consumption. Or its just an unfortunate time when gas prices soared up.

  • Great Vehicle. Will Purchase Another - 2003 Ford Expedition

Excellent vehicle. Only problem we have had was the rear air conditioning motor, which was covered by the warranty. We love this thing and it seems to love us and what we put it through. From dirt roads to snow and pulling our boat, it does it all, without difficulty. The only thing replacing our Ford Expedition will be another (EL Version), once were free of payments for a few years.

Well I have to say I am very pleased with this SUV. I have owned it for year and a half now. I bought it with 52k now 69k. I had one problem with the rear wheel bearings which was covered in the warranty. It drives great, tons of power, very roomy. I go fishing a lot and I can go anywhere off road in any conditions. I will say that the p series tires stink with this SUV in 4x4. The all terrain tires are the way to go. As for the gas mileage I think it does great. I went to visit my brother 400 mles from me and I filled up when we left and again about 100 miles from his house. I have allways been a GM guy and I am used to seeing 60- 80 dollars at the pump to fill up. I will buy a Ford again
