White Buffalo EB 4wd & 5.4L - 1998 Ford Expedition
By Bob Mack - September 21 - 2:00 am60,000 miles, very few problems. Bought it new. Brakes went at 40K, front differential seal at 50K. The Goodyear Wrangler RTS worn out at 55K. 17" Bridgestone Revo tires made a vast improvemnt in handling & ride. 4wd works like a dream rode through 60 miles of TX South Padre Island beach sand like it was a throughway. As prevously stated, the air suspension componets (pump & frt shocks) wear out quickly and are expensive, but help to reduce excessive ride height. We hope to keep this one for 8-10 years. At 60 mph we can nurse 16mpg, but my wives heavy digital driving style, around town we see just 11 MPG. Paint & leather is holding up well.

Great SUV - 1998 Ford Expedition
By aclance1 - August 5 - 2:00 amMy experiance with my 1998 EB 4x4 5.4L Expedition has been great. I changed the original brakes at 75K I recently changed the original fan belt, other than that no major maitence has been required. This truck has been really good to me and you can fit tons of people and stuff in it.

My Expedition - 1998 Ford Expedition
By Carrothead - March 13 - 2:00 amNever had any mechanical problems, only a few electrical problems which included replacing the rear wiper motor and the signal control unit on the steering column. Do not like lugging the heavy 3rd seat in and out. Wish there was a way to firmly secure the 3rd seatbelts down when 3rd seat not in use - they swing wildly if not secured - I use a mat in the back for cargo so locking them back in place is not an option. Would like the air vents to be a little more variable in their directional control. Otherwise, I love my Expedition and will buy another for sure.

Expensive to keep - 1998 Ford Expedition
By Roamer - March 5 - 2:00 amThis is a fine truck (when it runs & the "ck engine" lights arent on.) Lots of problems (after warranty expired!) w/alleged water leakage & spark plug/coil paks going bad. All very pricey to repair. O.D. "off" switch broke. Manual lumbar adj. broke. Dealer service poor. Tends to "wander" on freeway despite alignment & tire change. Rear wiper works erratically. Beautiful truck too bad it doesnt measure up to my old Suburban. Mileage w/4.6 better than expected- about 16-17 hwy.

Pretty decent Suv for the bucks - 1998 Ford Expedition
By Eaton52 - February 24 - 2:00 amI have had my expedition since 1999, it hasnt given me much trouble, couple interior parts come apart which the dealer wanted way to much for ( wanted 300 bucks to fix a $5 part which literally took me 20 seconds to put in myself). the performance is decent, but could be improved with the 5.4 litre. i cammute to work everyday and it gets me there in back with comfort, it is great inside, very fun to drive and is an easy riding car with great vision out of the power front seats.
