This Year's Model Updates:

Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.

But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.

Pros:
  • Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

  • Love my Expedition - 2003 Ford Expedition

I am very happy with my 2003 Expedition. It is so comfortable to drive and rides awesome. Putting kid seats in is very easy and power fold third row is a must.

I have not owned mine very long but I have owned a Ford for the last 6 1/2 years. I upgraded from the truck to the Expedition and I am very impressed. I have not been in it long but already the aesthetics are very pleasing and impressive (seats, interior design, creature comforts, exterior design, clearance, and wheels, etc.). It rides great even if it lacks the power of its competitors. I have not driven far enough to comment on mechanical reliability or long term road performance. If it holds up like the F150 truck and I believe whole heartedly that it will, then it is another winner from Ford. Gary

  • Quality at an unbeatable price - 2003 Ford Expedition

I tested every full sized affordable SUV on the globe. The Expedition was the most appealing. Totally new design. I was leaning toward a Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon. Then I test drove this Ford and fell in love. The quality of this ride is much higher than the GM product and even the Toyota. Plus the price of the Expedition was significantly less than a comparable equipped competitor.............NICE

  • PIECE OF JUNK - 2003 Ford Expedition

  • Great Tow Vehicle - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

I really have enjoyed the Expedition so far. It has made a great tow vehicle and is very comfortable. The ride is good compared to others within its class (I evaluated both the Chevorlet and the Toyota). Things that impressed me the most initially were the interior design and the exterior design. As I have driven the vehicle I really have begun to appreciate the overall package. I would recommend the Expedition to anyone looking at this type of vehicle.

  • Great design but lousy assembly. - 2003 Ford Expedition

Interior and exterior design superb. Redesigned suspension is unsurpassed. Just plain awesome. However, FORD, please, (and I say again please) pay attention to quality control. Terribly assembled body. Squeaks and rattles galore. Plus, my XLT Popular model has no temp control in Max A/C; heater bypass valve optional. For the price I paid, this is just beyond ridiculous.

  • GREAT VEHICLE - 2003 Ford Expedition

I previously owned a 1997 Expedition (Eddie Bauer)had great luck. Went 120,000 miles and traded it for $12,000. Pulled a heavy 31 ft. travel trailer with it and always was dependable. So far this 2003 is great!!! Wonderful ride, smooth and quiet.

  • 2003 Expetition is a winner! - 2003 Ford Expedition

My wife and I love our 2003 EB Expedition. We had a 2000 EB Epedition which we thoght was great, but the new design and riding comfort of the 2003 exceeds our expectations

  • Must Drive It....... - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

This is the third Expedition I had, the 2003 is the smoothest riding truck Ive ever owned. You must drive it to see. The floor mats that come with it are very cheap for the cost of the truck and the front seats could use a little more cushion...

  • Former Skeptic - 2003 Ford Expedition

I just recently purchased the new 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition. I have been very pleased with the vehicle. I was initially looking at the Toyota Sequoia but with the current incentives available from Ford on the Expedition its the best value around. I am very impressed with how the vehicle drives and the enhanced features.
