This Year's Model Updates:

Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.

But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.

Pros:
  • Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

  • Among the finest weve ever owned - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

Weve found the quality and comfort of our Expedition to be truly superior, even when compared to luxury class vehicles like BMW and Mercedes. We were drawn by its new styling and added features, like the power fold- down rear seats and reverse warning. But after we purchased the vehicle, we really fell in love with it after taking some long trips and its superior ride and handling characteristics really became evident. We now have about 35,000 miles on it, yet it still seems like new. The leather and carpets are holding up very well, while wear to components like tires and brakes is excellent. We expect to keep the vehicle for several years.

  • Not bad - 2003 Ford Expedition

I am somewhat impressed with my new EB expedition, but I am guessing I should have went with the Denali. No big problems so far just the overall ride is way off, truck is big and feels so in the ride area.

  • Thanks Ford - 2003 Ford Expedition

First rating was low due to rear end noise, Ford fixed the problem, out of balanced drive shaft, surprise, surprise. This is a well built SUV just get underneath and take a look at it,looks like a tank and can pull a mega load. Looking for better gas mileage, but what do you expect with a vehicle that weighs over 5000 lbs. Best SUV on the market.

  • Great Vehicle - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

I have owned Ford SUVs since 1990. This vehicle is the best so far! The only issue that I have is the mirrors do not adjust properly when I use my auto settings. Just need to take it to the dealer. I would also like to see them add Day Running Lights to the Eddie Bauer version as part of the default package. You pay a ton of money for this truck you should get DRL for free!!!

  • ouch - 2003 Ford Expedition

Brake pad dust terrible. Too much plastic. Throttle whistle irritating. MPG poor. Wind noise bad. Side rear visibility not good. Insufficient horse power 5.4 engine. Noisy interior. Insufficient ground clearance compared to previous models. Memory system defective and cant be fixed.

  • Big improvement from old style - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

Great improvement from the old style. 2003 has much better handling, comfort and feel compared to the 2000 Expedition. You can definitely feel the difference with the 4 wheel independant suspension. Interior styling is great on the Bauer, very disappointed heated seats didnt come standard on the Bauer.

  • More rattle than nerves of steal - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

The more I drive it the more it rattles. First is was the suspension that needed to be tightened and now the interior doors and dash. The rear wings do not open consistently. Has Ford forgotten about Quality???? !!!! This is the 3rd XP and my second was clearly the best.

  • great new design - 2003 Ford Expedition
    By -

Very comfortable, plenty of room inside, dvd player great for trips with kids, electric fold down third row seats wonderful, excellent turning capability-turns on a dime. Have had it in shop twice for rotors to be turned and drivers side mirror electrical malfunction. Otherwise, I recommend it highly
