Overview & Reviews
Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.
But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.
- Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
- Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

I was sure I was going to own a Tahoe - 2003 Ford Expedition
By Aaron Burt - July 8 - 10:00 amI wanted the 2002 Chevy Tahoe. But my wife suggested we test drive the new Expedition. Externally I thought the truck was better looking then the old style but still not as good looking as the Tahoe. But the interior sold me. I loved not having to take out the third row of seats and that at 61 my knees werent up to my ears when I sat in the third row. Then with the conversation mirror and the flexible seating arrangments plus the ride quality I was hooked.

So Far so Good - 2003 Ford Expedition
By Bluyo - June 17 - 5:21 pmSo far so good. We take this SUV to beach in the summer and make full use of the on the fly 4X4 which is great. We have fit so far 6 people, 3 dogs and camping gear in it and no problem. It is very comfortable to drive and has great features. Fuel economy is not the best, but you can expect that from any full size SUV.

Sour on Ford Expedition - 2003 Ford Expedition
By Brian - June 7 - 4:20 pmMy 2003 Expy has been in the shop for at least 6 weeks since I bought it. A/C went out twice and the rear end has been replaced 3 times. Im currently waiting for my 4th rear end. The a/c cuts out during highway drives. Now the gas tank makes a popping sound when you shut off the engine and the auto dimmer doesnt work on the rear view mirror. Ive had the side trim panels replaced after 20k miles because they were rotting out. Seat belts wouldnt retract at 30k. Replaced them. The radio reception is terrible on AM and FM. Front end had a bad vibration fixed after 3k miles. Something about replacing springs. Engine idles very rough now also. Service has been good but face it, Ford is real garbage.

Enjoyed Expedition - 2003 Ford Expedition
By how166 - June 1 - 2:00 amFord did right.. the newly designed Expedition LOOKS great. Only problem is rattles.. Service department stumped for over a week.. says not the only Expedition with the same problem.. Hate spending over $30K for a rattle.. Walmart has them on the baby isle for less than a dollar.

2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer - 2003 Ford Expedition
By Cary Nimnicht - April 25 - 12:00 pmI have had the pleasure to drive this vehicle both in the city and the highway and found it a true joy to drive. From the interior space and easy loading and unloading of passenger in all three sections to the handling and spacious seating within the interior. Whether I am taking the neighborhood kids to a ball game or loading up three couples, the leg room and comfort of the seats are always a comment I receive. I have had no mechanical problems.

GREAT VEHICLE - 2003 Ford Expedition
By ROCKYW - April 8 - 10:00 amThis is the in my opinion rates top in its class for comfort, reliability, and safety. We purchased this vehicle mostly because of safety features and reliability. The only thing I would change would be the engine size, when towing a large boat it could use a bit more power.I should have purchased the (5.4L) insted of the (4.6L).
