This Year's Model Updates:

Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.

But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.

Pros:
  • Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

  • Great job Ford - 2003 Ford Expedition

I purchased my first Expedition in 2000 and have bought three more since then. I have found it great for hauling my scuba tanks, pulling a 26 foot camping toy hauler, and just good old joy riding. My wife likes it so well that she now wants her own rather than the Lincons she is used to. With the fold down seating and indepentant rear it is a great vechele.

Moving to the larger vehicle wasnt as difficult as my wife and I expected. With 7 years experience driving a mini van she had no problems driving the Expedition around town or parking. The kids have plenty of room and the fold away back seat makes it easy to get groceries. During our Christmas trip to MI from Norfolk, VA we were caught in a blinding snow storm. The 2WD Expedition helped us feel secure and handled the extreme weather conditions very well. One thing I would maybe do over, "Get the larger engine." The 4.6 liter seems a bit weak at times. This may only seem a problem because I drive a 1986 F-250 351W, most of the time.

  • Excellent, but still missing - 2003 Ford Expedition

The car is fun to drive but can get to ruff at times, the cabin is boring especially in the dash but the plastic is reliable and seems long lasting, it shows great power especially on freeways, and it puts speed in to your driving, the car is safe and large so theres nothing to worry about

Great truck! This is the first time for me to buy a Ford, but it wont be the last. However, its a little too big for my garage.

  • Sort of Happy - 2003 Ford Expedition

Love my expedition.Very disappointed in the road and wind noise for a $45K vehicle! My dealership took care of the black brake dust problem and replaced with new brakes-Ford has admitted problem, but left it up to consumer to pay for the new brakes. At 7,000 miles started having a vibration in steering wheel, got worse and now at 17,000 miles tires are cupped out! Trying to get something done about that! Tires have been rotated every 5,000 miles. I really do love everything about my expedition but these few problems. Im sure that my tire issue will be resolved too...I have an awesome dealership!

I was iffy when it came to buying a ford. I test drove the Chevy Tahoe and the Expidition both the same day. I have always been a Chevy fan (#3) from childhood. However, after completely being critical of the ford - we bought it!!! My family and I love our expidition.

  • 2003 Model is Awesome - 2003 Ford Expedition

2003 is a completely different Expedition than the 2002. The fold down seats, the handling, the turning radius is far superior to any other SUV. I did extensive reasearch, lucky the the 2003 came out just in time because I would not have bought the 2002. I was close to buying the Toyota Sequioa, but the style and the features are better in the Ford PS. Never owned, or ever thought about buying a Ford vechile. Glad I did. GO for it

  • move over sequoia - 2003 Ford Expedition

This truck drives about as good as a sequoia, has a great new suspension, outstanding safety features, a very nice fit and finish and options which make this the best suv in its class period. I thought that the interiors of the tahoe and sequoia were very average. The tahoe drove ok and the sequoia seemed overpriced for the total package you got.

My wife ordered her Expedition completely loaded. The Kids love the DVD player, the Dad loves the A/C seats and GPS-Navigational System and Mom loves all the room. I especially feel safe knowing that she is driving my son and newborn twins around with the ATS and Side Airbags.
