This Year's Model Updates:

Ford's full-size SUV sports changes inside and out. Outside, the Expedition looks bigger and bolder. Some of its new styling cues, such as the egg-crate grille and raised hood, are from its little brother, the Explorer. Inside you'll find fold-flat second- and third-row seats, with a power-folding option for the third row. The second row is split-40/20/40 enabling the middle section to slide forward. The Eddie Bauer package has an in-dash six-disc changer (optional on the XLT) and steering wheel-mounted stereo and climate controls, as well as an optional DVD player, navigation system and heated-cooled seats.

But the big changes are the ones you can't readily see. Underneath the skin a double-wishbone independent rear suspension system and a rack and pinion steering configuration improve road handling. AdvanceTrac stability control, along with ControlTrac four-wheel-drive system and an increased width of 1.7 inches should help keep the rubber down and the shiny side up.

Pros:
  • Excellent interior design and comfort, wide-ranging versatility, impressive hauling capabilities, improved handling abilities, great crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Slow when loaded down, drives as big as it looks, stability control only available on high-line models.

I love my Expedition/ I thought it may be difficult to get used to driving a large car but it drives and handles excellent. I have an infant and it is great for hauling all of his stuff around. We also recently went on a long trip and it was great lots of room and the gas mileage was much better than expected. We have carried everything from people to lumber in this thing and have never been disappointed.

This car has met all my expectations. Plenty of room and creature comforts for a large family. Great performance when pulling a 7,000 lb. trailer, handles it with no problems. Only downside is poor gas mileage in city driving conditions, better than expected when on highway (18 MPG). I would definitely purchase this vehicle again.

This is our second Expedition, and we love it. We have three boys, and the older two play hockey. It has all the room we need for our frequent weekend hockey trips. It handles much more car-like than its exterior size would indicate.

  • BEST SUV EVER - 2003 Ford Expedition

This SUV can do all the things a large pick-up can do but still has a soft car ride, not to mention the air suspention and the indepedepedet rear suspention. It also has about twice the size of leg room in each seat, compared to yukon or the Toyota seqoia. It also has a styleish design inside of the car and out side of the SUV.HEated mirrors and good derability it is the best truck/ SUV ever, had a seqoia and yukon last year and didnt like it at all, this can beet , any other car out there.Plus to many small luxurious things to list.

Best full Size SUV there is. Feels great to drive with positive handling and a solid ride. FX4 package gives the Expedition a distinctive look and gets admiring looks wherever we go. Great off-road vehicle as well with hatloads of towing capacity.

  • Awesome Expedition, Fords Home Run - 2003 Ford Expedition

This vehicle was everything I expected and more. The ride is shockingly smooth for such a large truck and the engine is outstanding. It just pulls and pulls. The advance trac system eliminates the need for 4wd in all everyday situations. Snow is no problem. The only reason to buy the 4wd option would be for true offroading. The interior is designed well and extremely comfortable. At 6, 230 lbs, even the third row seat is comfortable. It is packed with great features and everything is solidly built. I love it.

This 2-wd SUV has done just what we bought it for: Haul kids, dogs, luggage and groceries long distances in safety and comfort. It has been without fault mechanically. The 4.6 liter V-8 has provided adequate power and reasonable mileage (close to 20 mpg on long trips -- 15 around town). We like the way the truck looks, and its interior design has proved to be very functional and flexible, made of materials that are wearing well. Finally, it has great brakes, super visibility, and the IRS make this large machine both comfortable and secure on the road. Would we buy another? Yes.

Got me a Black and Gold 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition. I am so proud to have made a quality purchase on this SUV. My friend has a black 2002 Tahoe, but he does not have the great features that my EXPE has, like "power folding third row", Independent rear suspension. DVD entertainment System, KEYPAD for NOT ACCIDENTALLY Locking my keys in the SUV (when will all the others catch on to this?) and many other great features. Oh yeah, 6 disk indash CD player.

  • Love it in Texas - 2003 Ford Expedition

Impressed with the new design and available features. 4x4 suspension is great. Very smooth highway ride and comfortable for long trips. Plenty of room. Recommend the 5.4L engine if at all possible, I test drove both and found that the 4.6 doesnt provide enough power for this big vehicle. Overall, very satisfied.
