This Year's Model Updates:

A new Crown Vic LX Sport model with 235 horsepower, boosted torque, a performance-oriented axle ratio and five-spoke 17-inch wheels debuts. The Sport also comes with leather front bucket seats and a nifty center console. Standard Crown Vics get new included equipment like an auto-dimming rearview mirror, front seat back pockets and wheel covers. Newly optional on Standard models is luxury cloth seating and power-adjustable pedals. Those pedals, floor mats, heated side mirrors, antilock brakes, 12-spoke alloy wheels and steering wheel controls for the stereo and climate controls are now standard on LX models. Electronic gauges have been thoughtfully moved to the LX options list. LX and LX Sport get an optional trunk storage system. All Vics benefit from upgraded cupholders.

Pros:
  • Plenty of interior room, comfortable ride, excellent crash-test ratings.
Cons:
  • Large size makes it difficult to park and maneuver, roof-mounted bike rack makes car look like police cruiser.

This is the first Ford auto Ive owned. Thus far no problems of a major concern. Service has been acceptable if your willing to wait long periods. Car is very comfortable to drive long distances with. Wife says its too big!

I guess Im a little bit younger than the average Crown Vic owner, but I love them! This is my 4th one. All of my Crown Vics have had excellent reliability and are still going strong. I have sold my old ones to friends and the 91 has 250K, the 92 has 198K, the 95 has 154K all on the original unrebuilt drivetrains.... Need I say more?? The comfort on the highway is unsurpassed. I would recommend this car to anyone. After all, this basic design (V8, auto, rear wheel drive, full body on frame) dates back to the dawn of automobiles and Ford has certainly exterminated the bugs out of this design. :)

The P71 Crown Vic is a really cool car. If you like big and roomy, youll love the former cop car Crown Vic. If you like good performance, youll enjoy it too. Great acceleration with the 4.6L GT V8. Nice anti-lock brakes without a severe bucking bronco effect. Nice tight steering makes it quite maneuverable for a big car in city traffic but use two hands on the freeway at full speed. While not a race car, it does offer plenty of get up and go. Its no wonder cabbies like these birds! The main drawback is fuel consumption. I get about 15mpg (combined), so what you get is a car that is like the Concorde (the aircraft): Big, fast, and burns gas like one!

  • Not a GTO but FUN! - 2002 Ford Crown Victoria

I recently found the perfect Crown Vic LX Sport after a long search. Monochromatic red with all the options. Tan leather interior. This is a great car with many nice features. Seems 2002 had everything going right for this vehicle. My other vehicle is a 1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 with 302 V8.
