  • NO MORE CHRYSLER JUNK - 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan
    By -

Our Grand Caravan has been nothing but problems. The transmissions are junk. This Van had two transmissions in 30,000 miles. NOT RECOMMENDED for people with children - this is an unsafe and unreliable vehicle. The wipers only work when the SUN is out. The back door glass explodes as you drive down the road. The brakes will not stop it at speeds over 30MPH unless you have a mile to stop. ABS SUCKS.

After keeping my 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan for 10 years, it was time for a change. Even though I had replaced the transmission and did a head job, we still bought a one year old Dodge Grand Caravan. To this day, cannot get my wife to take my Chevy Lumina as she loves the Grand Caravan. With two in college, we fit everything to move them in and out each year with room to spare while the SUVs have to use the roof! we will buy another one in 2010.

We bought our Grand Caravan used as a one owner. Its now got over 90,000 miles and weve loved it since the day we bought it! I have 5 kids and it works wonderfully for transporting my family. Its big enough for all of us to ride in comfort, but I have no problems getting it in and out of parking spots. Were going on 3 years of ownership and have put on 35,000+ miles without a single problem or trip to the dealership and still going strong!

  • We got a good one! - 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Only real problem was with the A/C. Had it in 3 times under warranty and they finally fixed the problem. We just turned over 70K and not another problem with this van. Excellent interior room, comfortable to travel in for our family of 5, and exterior styling is the best of all mini vans. This van has been from Washington state to NY and back 3 times without a problem. The Infinity sound system and overhead DVD player keeps the whole family entertained. The overhead computer is a nice feature. Ive read some of the complaints on the tranny and brakes, but with just over 70K on ours we havent experienced any of that! We have nothing but praise for our van and would recommend it to anyone!!!

  • This Works For Me - 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

I have been the owner of this vehicle for a few weeks now. However it was bought brand new by my mom and dad. It is in excellent condition. I had many chances to drive this vehicle and I find it to be a very smooth ride. It hugs the road on turns and does not feel top heavy. The exterior is sweet. The rear spoiler and front fog lights give it a very sporty look. I never thought of myself as a minivan kind of guy; but I am glad I bought it and believe me it was well taken care of. The kids love it. There is plenty of room for them and now I dont hear she touching me or move over anymore.

  • It does its job - 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Gets us from point A to point B. Sits 7 of us uncomfortably. Big pain in the rear to remove seats all the time when you need to make more room. Transmission (as usual, it seems) needed to be replaced at about 90k miles. Completely replaced. Mine has lots of nice extras that I like. Temperature, average gas mileage, etc. in the overhead dash. I might buy another Dodge if the tranny problem was solved, I like the new ones.

  • Its Not Good - 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

We love the way the van drives and handles - like a car. Very convenient features but no power doors. The biggest problem has been the transmission - two trans gasket replacements so far at 35k. Power steering problems too.

  • Great Minivan - 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan

Third and best Dodge minivan weve owned. This is an SE/Sport (not AWD) with 3.3L, 17" wheels, and HD towing pkg. Just went over 151000 miles. Replaced transmission at about 100,000, but otherwise no major problems. Great for road trips and more than competent as a commuter. Will absolutely buy a fourth.

  • Tranny issue down the line, stay away... - 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan
    By -

Bought the car new with the wife using it mostly for work and around town plus family vacations. Right about 44k miles the tranny went south on us. Dodge wont cover cause its out of warranty. Replaced it with a used tranny & 1500 miles into it the tranny died. This time got a brand new tranny from Dodge and it ran fine until 115k miles later. Tranny shot again. I shouldve read about all these Chrysler tranny issue before buying it. Theres a site online dedicated to Chrysler tranny time bomb. They make decent looking car but interior and mechanical flaws are all over. Never will I buy another Chrysler product.
