Overview & Reviews
For 2009, the Dodge Caliber receives only minor changes. Most significant is the availability of new hard-drive-based music and navigation systems. The Caliber also gains added sound insulation to help reduce road noise. Finally, all-wheel drive, previously available for the R/T trim level, has been dropped completely.
- Versatile interior, wide range of engine choices.
- Sluggish acceleration from CVT-equipped models, low-quality interior materials, unimpressive build quality.

Ive driven better..... - 2009 Dodge Caliber
By rlfeen - September 14 - 4:27 amI am the second owner of my Caliber. It currently has 136k~ miles on it. Roomy car, love the exterior. Interior is nice, however the design hasnt aged well. A TON of plastic. Plastic is everywhere is there are NO soft touch materials except the headliner and seats. HORRIBLE suspension. Replaced lower control arms, ball joints, you name Ive replaced it. Luckily I bought a GREAT warranty. Drives great on the highway. Smooth and quiet. city driving is okay, hate the CVT especially in the city. Feels like it takes for ever to get up and go. (it is a larger car so I guess this is expected). Paint is still pretty good. I have black so it shows EVERY flaw.

2009 Caliber - 2009 Dodge Caliber
By sm3230 - May 10 - 5:50 pmI bought this car with 27000 miles on it and now I have just under 52000, and the transmission went. The warranty expired at 36000, so if you are going to buy one of these cars, beware ! How dare they charge you for an extended warranty, when they know that the product they are selling is crap....

Horrible rental!!! - 2009 Dodge Caliber
By BunyLuvr - January 15 - 4:58 pmUGH! I rented this car on a trip recently and chose it because I love small hatchbacks I drive a 2008 VW Rabbit at home. My college-age son, who couldnt care less about cars, immediately noticed the poor quality interior compared to our Rabbit. "Is this an American car?" he asked - and I doubt he would not say that about a newer Ford. Driving this thing is not pleasurable after driving German cars, either. Its just adequately powered, and the steering is not responsive at all. The car gets points for exterior styling, and I assume its fairly reliable, but if youre looking for a small hatch, check out the Mazda3, new Golfs, Honda Fit, etc. before saddling yourself with this blah-burger

There are better hatches - 2009 Dodge Caliber
By himoses - November 30 - 11:48 amI have now had the displeasure of driving the Caliber. This is not a bad car compared to garbage made in the 1980s, but is far inferior to a lot of hatches on the market. This car drives like a brick. If you get a good deal, then I could see this being a decent commuter car if you only drive on the highway. If you like to drive, find something else. My personal affordable favorite hatches are the Hyundai Elantra Touring and the Mazda 3. This car is not in either of these cars league.
