I have had the Caliber for 2.5 years now and have 70,000 miles on it. I was told with this car that the tranny will go out around 100,000 miles if you do not get new tranny fluid every 30,000 miles (which costs $400), I have not yet had it done because of the cost and because I was told that it should be done every 60,000. Ive had problems with it for a while now with the tranny and accelerating but Dodge is saying that there is nothing wrong with it. Has anyone else had this type of a problem with theres? I feel that I am paying for a car that is a ticking time bomb!

  • Big mistake, look twice and buy foreign - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Nothing but trouble from day one. Had 12 miles on it and it has has been back to the dealer 6 times now from electrical issues to lag time in acceleration, covered under warranty. A metal skid plate that grounded down and had to be replaced, covered and now at 72,000 miles both ball joints are pretty much shot, not covered!I am meticulous about this car with oil changes, checking tire pressure and accelerating and breaking as gently as i can to make this car last me 20 years, so having something like this break was just unbelievable. Unreal. Gasket leaked around tail light, not covered. Short in wire that blew out headlight, covered but not the headlight. Unacceptable! Do not buy one

  • Overall good buy - 2007 Dodge Caliber

It is not very comfortable on long drives > 6 hours. Replaced tires at 45,000 miles (but my alignment was off, which could account for some of the wear). Sounds weird, but if it is below freezing outside, my cruise control wont turn on. No problems otherwise, have been performing maintenance as recommended. Would buy again. Headlights are very bright, oncoming traffic always thinks that I have on high beams.

  • Front end hell - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I have replace the front end struts 4 times already the last time in the last 4 months but the dealer keep telling me that there is nothing wrong and they must be putting part on wrong, I have talked other caliper owner some are having the same problems. The worst car I have every owned, wish I could give it back.

  • 1st and the LAST - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Purchased the 07 Caliber SXT certified and can say it was a huge mistake. Poor ride quality, mileage is at best 23 on the hwy and high teens in the city. The CVT transmission is the real deal if your cruising or going down hill, but thats at best. Interior is very cheap, ride is similar to a 3/4 ton truck. Storage is not great, leg room is decent in the front but poor in the back, if you got a child seat in the back the front passengers knees will eat the dash. If you want quality get a GM, FORD, or Honda or something else. Dodge struck out big time on these!

I have 43,000 miles and have had no problems as of this time. Tires are still good and wearing evenly. I rotate every other oil change and still have substantial tread. I just noticed I will need an oil pan gasket when I took for an oil change, pan is thankfully easy to access. I hear some people having trouble with the transmissions. I thought this was covered by the unlimited power train warranty. Is dodge not standing behind the warranty?

  • Front end problems - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I bought the RT model in spring 2007. For the first 7 months, I could not have enough driving time with my car, it was great! lots of fun. But after 8 months, the 2 front shocks needed replacement. I couldnt believe it. Lucky, they where under warranty. I had them changed. Almost a year later, they needed changing again!! Then, afte the warranty ran out, the 2 front tables where finished, $300.00 each just for the parts! All this changed and know I think there is a rack and pinion problem, because it stills makes awful noises and one front shock is, for the 3rd time in need of replacement. I wish I could bring it back to the dealership and leave it there!! its everything but economic...

  • Love/Hate - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Well I bought this car used.. I had one as a rental car and thought it was neat. The design and such. I use it to commute 90 + miles a day.. lets see it has been in the shop 30 days already waiting on a new transmission, which thankfully was covered by the warranty I paid for. Then needed new tires, it has less than 40,000 miles on it. Which I am glad because the new tires seem to make it a quieter ride. Now recently I am noticing shifting problems with my new transmission! UGH!!

I bought this car mainly for the AWD, I live in Maine. I have had no problems except tires last about 25000 mi. Im on my third set with 62000 on car. Love the CVT w/AutoStick. Summer 30mpg, winter 23mpg Love the roar of the exhaust, handling, brakes, and of course, the 485 watt stereo. Im 52, drive 40mi. one way to work.I wish the seat fabric would clean easier.

  • Some things about this car! - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

My Dodge Caliber is great! its a fun car to drive. My only complaint is about the heavy behind trunk door. The tires wear out fast I had to replace them and the power steering pump wore out and I have to get it replaced. I dont know if there is a recall for power steering pumps going out. I only had my car for 3 years!
