  • Looks good, but loads of trouble - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

This little car has been trouble from the start. We have taken this to the dealer every year for the past 3 years in order to get it to pass emissions. Then just this past weekend the Transmission went out. The warranty is 3 yrs and 36 thou miles. This will cost us $4500 since the CVT transmission cannot be rebuilt. It may look good on the outside and have several good features, but is a load of crap. here are just a few of the things weve done to it, starting about a year after we bought it. Brakes (once a year), Tie rods (once), Emissions sensors (every year), lights (once). I would not buy one of these cars or any Dodge product ever again.

  • Wondering - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I have had my car for a year now and I am wondering why it fishtails when the car hits a dip or uneven payment? Is anyone else having this problem and how did you fix it. I have read the other reviews and it sounds like a lot of tire rods and arms have had to replaced. I think I need to have mine checked. I also have had to change tires since buying my car. I keep the scheduled maintenance. After reading reviews am worried about trade-in offers. I think I want to trade mine in. It scares me being so fishy. It makes me wonder what else is going on under the car with suspension.

  • The worst car ever! - 2007 Dodge Caliber

This is the worst car ever! At 5,000 miles the caliper froze up, Chrysler wanted the dealer to turn my rotor instead of putting a new one on needless to say that didnt happen, at 24,000 the transmission had to be replaced, at 27,000 the power steering rack and pump had to be replaced, at 30,000 miles the lower control arms, linkage to the sway bars had to be replaced. This is the most unreliable car ever! Chrysler says its my problem not theirs!

  • Do not buy! - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Well where do I begin with this thing. Lets see 3 day of having the dealership had to have it towed. I pulled out of my garage and her a bang and extremely loud clicking. Ends up the piston rod went through the engine. The tires had to be replaced 4 months later. At 6 months later needed new brake pads. A year later brought it in to be inspected and needed 2 grand of work. Still brake problems and had 4 different garages look at it and nobody can figure out whats wrong with them. Very noisy the Body is cheap but sporty and nice looking. Not as good on gas as they say. Terrible trade in value if you can trade it in. After 2 years I cannot find a dealer to take as trade.

  • Overall happy - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I bought my car used with 38,000 miles. Drove it from Boston to Georgia without any issues and quite comfortably too. So far only problem is with the ball joints/control arms wearing out, but thats likely due to the previous driver. I am still happy with it though. Drives comfortably, quiet inside, ok mpg, etc. The svt is a little strange. Takes a second to get pick-up after pressing the gas pedal. People complain about it, but they have made improvements with newer models. 2007 was the first yr, what do you expect?

  • Good car for the price - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I bought this car 4 years ago & I love it. I originally wanted a Pontiac Vibe but the Caliber had more of the options I wanted for a lower price. The car is very roomy & I get 25 mpg with it, which is great seeing as how my job requires traveling. I slid on some ice in January 2009 & slammed into a metal gate. The entire front end back to the front doors needed replaced but there was no internal damage. I also had to get the left front lower control arm replaced this past March. The car is horrible in the snow, so I plan on getting a 4WD truck next year but I still plan on keeping this car. Its a sharp looking car.

  • Over 3yrs still runs great - 2007 Dodge Caliber

My parents gave me 2007 Dodge Caliber SXT 2.0 for graduation, it was bought used with 21,000 miles currently it has 68,000. Not sure what all the reliability complains are, keep serviced properly and it will last, simple as that, I change the oil every 3,500 miles synthetic only, just because I heard it is better then conventional specially on CVTs. The CVT did take quite a bit to get used to, but now driving conventional automatic cars just feels wrong. Last week I replaced the standard stereo with a more modern Pioneer with bluetooth, iPod Integration, and USB imputs. I love the styling, looks rather small from the outside, great surprize when you do get in, Im 511 240lbs.

  • Dont buy it used - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I loved the style of this car when it first came out--a mini version of my hubbys magnum. That love affair ended as soon as the first rain hit my city. The car had an interior water leak that to this day can not be found and fixed. I had to replace the shocks due to cracking (under warranty). Constant issues with starting the car, blown gear shifter fuse due to constant jumping even though I was told the battery was good. And when I brake over a gritty surface with new tires, fully inflated the car has a tendency to slide. I think I got a lemon but it sounds like a lot of people have issues with this car

  • 3 yrs old and hate it!!! - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

Where do I start? Only 12,000 miles on it, first car I bought on my own so I was all excited to drive it around and show it off. Dec. 08, driver side tie rod was bad, still under warranty so got it replaced. A little after that I had to have the computer reprogrammed because it wasnt shifting and I had to do it manually. About 6 months after that I had to get new tires. Dec. 09, I was told my right side tie rod was going bad along with my ball joint on left side. March 10, I had to replace tie rod, ball joint and lower control arm on both side. I drive 30 miles one way to school and drive there 2-3 times a week.....getting uncomfortable with this car.
