This Year's Model Updates:

This fully redesigned Trailblazer now sports a longer, wider and noticeably stiffer chassis, along with an all-new 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine and a more refined suspension that is light years ahead of its predecessor, the Blazer. Unique sheet metal now differentiates the Trailblazer from its GM cousins, the GMC Envoy and Oldsmobile Bravada, while a restyled interior makes better use of the additional passenger room inside.

Pros:
  • Class-leading engine power, forgiving ride, room for seven in the EXT version.

  • A Great SUV - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I did a lot of research before buying this SUV. I narrowed my choices to the Chev TB, Accura MDX and Ford Explorer. The TB beat out the others on ride and handling. The turning radius is better than my husbands sedan. Plenty of room in the back for gardening supplies, golf clubs, luggage and home improvement supplies. Plenty of towing power to. After almost 3 years of driving this vehicle, I still think I made the right decision.

Great styling. Fantastically smooth, powerful engine. Just cannot seem to get better than about 16 mpg, even in all-highway driving, and it could use better steering feel.

  • TrailBlazer Justifies Return to GM - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

After 20 years of buying only Japanese cars we have finally given GM another chance in the last three years. The 2002 TrailBlazer is as well engineered and built as our six Toyotas and Hondas. The same can be said of our 2000 Chevrolet Venture. The major disappointment with the TrailBlazer is gas mileage--about 17 MPG, most of it freeway.

  • Just OK - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

This truck has had its ups and downs. Just when you think its all OK, somthing else is just not working right. I like the truck, and have hauled a lot of stuff in it, but it just cant pass up a dealer. I think it likes to have people looking under its hood.

  • Chevy Trailblazer 2002 - my experience - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

This is a comfortable, solid SUV. I have had problems with the performance. I bought this used at 17,000 miles. Shortly after my purchase, the truck was stalking while sitting at a stop light or in the driveway. It has been taken at least 6 times into the dealership for them to verify the problem. We have finally duplicated it in their presence. The problem has been sent to GM Engineers because they dont know what is wrong with it. I am concerened with the safety of the vehicle in this condition, however Chevrolet is not. Also - it is difficult to see out the back window when reversing.

  • Love My Trailblazer! - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

Luv It! Great so far! Luv the smooth ride & quiet engine (except when cold). Have had 3 weeks - Bought as used vehicle - got a good deal! First tank poor mileage - 11 mpg which depressed me, but noticed all tires were low (24 lbs) - After proper inflation (32 lbs) 14 mpg/city, 21.5 hwy. (Check your tires) Didnt have use for 4W, but glad I have it -Need place to use 4W once a month to keep seals from drying, Im told!

  • Luv My LTZ - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

Very happy with my LTZ 4WD bought 2 years & 60k miles ago. Everyone loves the way the car looks, handles and the quite ride. I looked at the Mercedes, X5, 4 Runnerand the MDX. The trailblazer had the best combination of price, power and features. Zipping around town so much more fun to drive than my Yukon. The car does have a personality with its various electronic problems including electronic side mirrors (replaced 6 times now at dealer) dash board power failures, occasional tendency to try to shift into 4wd Low! on the highway at 80 mph, alarm problems. Overall ive been very happy with a car.

  • Excellence with exception - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

Smooth, comfortable ride with many ammenities. Gas mileage 12 city, <18 hwy. Some recalls on wipers and seatbelt safety (but did not occur in my vehicle after inspection by dealership). Seems to be problem with rear lights - have replaced bulbs several times. I would buy another but this was the "first year" for the model. Just had to work out the bugs.

  • An American Rovlution - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

The TrailBlazer has an excellent ride going long distances. The exterior is excellent from a quality standpoint. You can see where they cut corners on the interior. The plastic that protects the odometer cracked from wear and tear and you have to press a button 4 times to turn the lights off during day riding. But, the car for the most part is dependable and is terrific in the snow. It has excellent pickup and smooth acceleration. I like the aggressive front as well. I would recommend it and by another one

  • Impressed thus far..First Chevy purchase - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

Great truck! First SUV, first Chevy product (Previous Nissan). It is everything that Chevy built it up to be. Got nearly 20 miles/p/gallon on a highway trip at 55mph max. Only concerns: 1. Drivers seat feels unusually off center from controls. (brakes especially) 2. Received sporadic seatbelt and airbag warning. (went away after shut engine off and re-started) 3. Few workmanship flaws on exterior body. (ie weather seals with excess glue)
