This Year's Model Updates:

This fully redesigned Trailblazer now sports a longer, wider and noticeably stiffer chassis, along with an all-new 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine and a more refined suspension that is light years ahead of its predecessor, the Blazer. Unique sheet metal now differentiates the Trailblazer from its GM cousins, the GMC Envoy and Oldsmobile Bravada, while a restyled interior makes better use of the additional passenger room inside.

Pros:
  • Class-leading engine power, forgiving ride, room for seven in the EXT version.

So far shes treated me right. She runs good and handles great. The engine may have 270 horses, but she lacks low end torque and it leaves her feeling sluggish off the start. Once shes up in speed the horses come alive!

Although the vehicle is a recent purchase for us, we seem to like it quite a bit. We did however, have a problem with the way they tie in the optioin packages. For instance, we wanted the sunroof but not the Onstar. They came as a package. We were unable to get the sunroof without having to pay the extra $965.00 for Onstar. Seems like a conspiracy.

  • love my LTZ - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

This was the best 36000 I ever spent. COmpared to the price and comfort of the Mercedes ML 320 that I looked at before buying this, the Trail BLazer blows it away. It rides like a car and has many features for a family, (dual radio and climate controls). The only problems encountered were with the electronics. The seat would not move into position sometimes when ignition was started, and side veiw mirrors seem to have a mind of their own and not stay in set place.

  • Great Truck - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

Great truck on the highway, cruising the interstates with ease and comfort. 20 mpg on the road and highway speeds but a little short in the city due to the big hp. Interior is comfortable on long trips. Back and forth to Myrtle Beach non-stop except for gas and a snack and no physical problems from the seating. Passengers (3) had no complaints whatsoever.

  • Vibration between 58-60 MPH - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

As described in Liz and NewOwners comments regarding the vibration around 60 mph, I have the exact same problem and have brought this problem to the attention of the selling dealership more than a few times. Although the service department was extremely friendly and sympathetic, diagnostics could not reveal the source of the problem nor any solution from GMC that would correct the problem. They mentioned that the problem could be anything from the engine to the transfer casing. The dealership said that GMC was aware of this problem and may be able to correct it via reprogramming of the vehicles computer. If I hear of any correction, Ill post here again.

  • Solid family transportation - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I bought my 2002 TB in May 2005 from the company I worked for. It was our vice presidents vehicle. Therefore I knew it had been serviced regularly and well maintained. It had a 105,000 mile on it when I bought it and now had 159,000. In 2006 I had to replace the part that shifts the vehicle from 2WD to AWD, it cost about $400. I have not had any more problems with that part. I also have had problems with the hatch on the rear door. Sometimes it locks and sometimes it doesnt. I should have it looked at, but it doesnt happen that often, so Ive learned to live with it. Its been very realiable transportation, and nice for hauling around a family of four. I drive 80% highway miles and avg 19.5/gal

  • First Recall - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

Let me say first, I love the truck. But, as with any GM product I am having some issues on a 5 month old vehicle. I live in Buffalo New York, the snow capital of the world, and rely on 4WD. I got my recall notice back in November regarding the 4WD not working and got it fixed in December. Now, 2 weeks ago the same part that was fixed is broken again, so I have to drive throught the snow with a RWD vehicle. It goes into the dealer AGAIN today. Anyone else having similar problems?

  • Still Going - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I have 142k on this SUV. I have not had to replace the tranny or engine. My goal is to get 200k on this vehicle. Little things have gone on this vehicle, lights on the dash have gone out. Some on the radio, gauges, etc. But owning this vehicle over 6 years, I think thats pretty good. I am a believer of preventive maintance, and I think that has helped in keeping my vehicle running. All fluids are changed reguarly, and the brake fluid, and front and rear diff has been changed. My mechanic recommended to change the radiator to extend the life of the tranny. Did that around 120k, so far so good. The suspension needed to be changed around 100k. But have not done that yet. And I proabably wont

  • I like mine! - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I bought my Trailblazer just a few months back. So far I must say I have rather enjoyed it. Its good looking. Gets me from A to B comfortably. Fuel economy, not so great, but hey its a 4.2L. Gets me moving! I would have no problems recomending this car to anyone.

  • 02 Chevrolet Trail Blazer - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

From the beginning until present, this vehicle has been super. I have had no problems with it to this date. Outside of regular service, the only expense has been new tires at 45,000 miles and a new battery at 35,000. Ride has been like sitting in a comfortable chair in my living room. Excellent on trips over 50 miles. Acceleration when you need it is there. Today with gas near $4 I wish it had better mileage but it more than makes up for it with its spacious interior, ride, and visibility.
