This Year's Model Updates:

This fully redesigned Trailblazer now sports a longer, wider and noticeably stiffer chassis, along with an all-new 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine and a more refined suspension that is light years ahead of its predecessor, the Blazer. Unique sheet metal now differentiates the Trailblazer from its GM cousins, the GMC Envoy and Oldsmobile Bravada, while a restyled interior makes better use of the additional passenger room inside.

Pros:
  • Class-leading engine power, forgiving ride, room for seven in the EXT version.

  • More Than I Expected - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I was extremely surprised by the quality and comfort of the Trailblazer. The gas mileage is a respectable 18.5 in the city and 21mpg on the highway. It has very durable hardware inside and out. I am very pleased and will buy another.

  • Major Headache - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

I purchased this vehicle used in 2002. The day after I bought it the headlight burned out and melted the socket for the bulb. A week later it melted the rear brake light circuit board. Not too much long after that, we had problems with the engine, it ate two batteries in a week, and now it still has a knock in the engine. The rear liftgate handle has broken on the inside, the driver side interior door panel is falling off, the plastic moldings around the handles are falling off, and the weather stripping is falling off. Needless to say this will bemy last Chevy purchase. Do not buy this model year Trailblazer. Its not worth the headache.

I enjoy the vehichle gratly. The performance is very good for its size and weight. The comfort is exceptional for an Suv.(my 2nd).The improvements I would make have been made from Chevrolet already.

  • WOW! What a SUV!!!! - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I am IMPRESSED!!! I had a TrailBlazer as a rental car to drive from CA- Vegas- Laughlin- & back to CA. Very happy with fast acceleration, driving in mountain areas, & the comfortable seats for long drives! I was so happy with the drive I am currently shopping to buy one. I was in the market for a new Jetta to replace my old one or a Dodge Durango. I couldnt decide if I wanted the SUV or a car. However, this SUV puts the Durango to shame! Durango is no longer a choice! The trunk had lots of space with extra compartments.

After taking the car to the dealer and not having the roaming mirrors fixed or the roar at 57 to 62 mph, I traded the car for a Tahoe

  • Too Many Problems - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I am a big GM fan, but this vehicle has issues. The ignitions switch went bad at 60k miles. My 4wd selector switch has been replaced, but is already acting up again. I love the look and ride of the vehicle, but a $35k vehicle is supposed to be reliable for more than 1 year!!!!!

  • No Good Chevy! - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Have had this SUV since new. Will never own another Chevy. Build quality is lacking. Gas mileage is horrendous. Getting 14.5 mpg according to onboard computer. Bought the top of the line with all the extras for $36000, now trade in is only about $17500! why did this loose value so quickly? Does Chevrolet know what junk they are selling? Have replaced the wiper motor twice due to recall, replaced taillights twice under warranty, and now need to replace again. Electric mirrors were replaced under warranty, now they need to be repaired again. Great Bose Stereo, but Chevy didnt build that. Reccomend Ford or foreign made vehicle next time. Very uncomfortable leather seats for front passangers.

  • Need to work the bugs out! - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I am pleased with the vehicle overall but have had problems. I had the vehicle only two weeks when I noticed a whine in the rear. It turned out that the entire rear end needed to be replaced. Problems with electrical system Ive had to have the wiper motor replaced and now the recirculation fan on the a/c isnt working. Im also experiencing trouble with the automatic climate control system. Sometimes it blows cold and sometimes warm when set at 60 the fan speed changes even when it is set to manual control. I have also had occasions where the entire driver information system, including gauges, went dead on me. There is a wind noise issue with this vehicle.

  • Not that great - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

My wife and I love the look and feel of our Trailblazer but the reliability is what brings us down. Transmission went out at 25,000 miles and dealership kept car for 3 weeks to fix it. ENORMOUS amount of AC problems over the last 1 1/2 years. Dealership can sometimes "duplicate" problem and they just keep replacing parts but nothing on the AC gets fixed. Also, the clock will sometimes change to a totally different time by itself (jump ahead a few hours and minutes). One time, the complete dashboard electrical system just went out (all the displays and the speedomoter). I got it to come back on after I turned the engine off and on again. Car sometimes has trouble starting too.

  • Coulda been better - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Several problems damper this otherwise fine vehicle. Lots of wind noise is the most apparent at speeds above 50 MPH. Front passenger seat belt locks up continuously. Fuel range...listed as 400 miles per tank...yeah...maybe if you drive the highway at 55 mph...otherwise expect mid to low 300 miles from full tank. Back seat uncomfortable...especially around foot area....other than I like it.
