This Year's Model Updates:

This fully redesigned Trailblazer now sports a longer, wider and noticeably stiffer chassis, along with an all-new 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine and a more refined suspension that is light years ahead of its predecessor, the Blazer. Unique sheet metal now differentiates the Trailblazer from its GM cousins, the GMC Envoy and Oldsmobile Bravada, while a restyled interior makes better use of the additional passenger room inside.

Pros:
  • Class-leading engine power, forgiving ride, room for seven in the EXT version.
Cons:

  • Just like me, love it or hate it - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I love my TB, i bought it n 04. I now have over 230,000 miles on her. Over the last 3 yrs I have put 2 transissions in her , fuel pump, 2 alt., a starter, new battery, several sets of tires. I have put alot of money into her, however she now acts like she is going to cut off when i stop or take off. the rpms either rev up to 2000+ or they drop down to like 400-. I have had the throttle body cleaned and a tune up, but she is still acting up. however, even w/ all of the problems ive had, i still cant seem to trade her in yet. I always say, ill rock her till her wheels fall off, however, im pretty sure they fell off and i just put new ones back on

When we bought the c truck it was good ride after a couple of month I started hearing air zipping in from outside and I took it in and they told me that that was the outside mirror design but I did not swallow that, then a couple of recalls came in and I learn to live with it. After I finish it paying off the car about a year later the problems began and after a ton of trips to the dealer and about $ 7000.00 dollar I regret the day I purchase that vehicle, from transmission to coils, spark plugs sensor etc, etc is been change on that vehicle and steal have problems. So I will never again by a Chevrolet vehicle in my life. Im a very unhappy car owner.

  • Electrical PROBLEM!!! - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

I bought a 2002 in February 2009, and by May I had to put 1,500 in it towards a whole new electrical system! It started doing strange electrical things and got to where I could turn the key over but it wouldnt start. It had nothing to do with the battery. We took it to a GM dealership to have it fixed. Well its been 7 mths and were back to where we started 1,500 dollars ago! This is ridiculous and unfair to the customers! Where is the customer loyalty???

The 2002 LTZ Trailblazer is a fairly nice vehicle except for its reliability. Ive driven the LTZ for a 18 months with 6 trips to the dealer for the same problem connected to the four wheel drive system. It seams to have a mind of its own. It either wants to shift on its own or leave you stranded. Has anyone else had this problem? The dealer made me a reasonable offer to trade mine for a 2003 model but when I accepted the offer they pulled it off the table. Good luck to all who purchase a Chevy Trailblazer.

I have 4000 miles on this vehicle with four trips to the service dept. The engine and overall ride is nice, but it has such extreme wind noise through the doors that it is very uncomfortable and distracting. Dont upgrade the stereo you will not be able to enjoy it! They tell me the drivers door was probably welded to the frame wrong! Where is your quality control Chevrolet? We work hard for our money and will take it elsewhere if you cant make a quality product or fix these mistakes!

  • GMs Electrical Nighmare - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I drove past the vehicle on the lot for a couple of weeks. I couldnt wait to own it. Unfortunately, it has not been kind to me. Reduced engine light comes on frequently. It has been to the dealership 6 xs to get repaired for that. They replaced numerous electrical components only to tell me they are not sure what the problem is. The driver door module works when it wants to, so sometimes the door doesnt lock. The memory seat works when it wants to. Other than that, replaced suspension parts, and fuel sending unit. All of this happened from 50,000 to 90,000. Cant wait to get rid of it!

  • Nothing to brag about - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I have owned this car for over 2 years. The leather interior and amount of drink holders is nice but the cheap looking dash and stereo system is a bad combination with the nice seats. Mostly the SUV has not been giving me trouble but one problem has never been corrected and that is the braking system which has been locking up at the worst times. Glad I havent crashed into anyone yet.

I have owned this car since new. The first time it was in the shop was 10 days after I bought it due to a "flapping" sound on the highway. It took 3 additional trips to determine that there were screws missing in the wheel well. The build quality on this car is terrible, it has been in the shop 30+ times for all manner of problems. Now I am looking to get a new car (Toyota) I find that my $30k SUV is worth almost nothing. GM has forever lost a customer with this vehicle.

  • You have been warned..... - 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

This is a vehicle that has been in for service every nine and a half days since I picked it up. The problems range from a defective right front axle seal, to a severely leaking rear liftglass, to complete autotrac system failure, to the flooding of the drivers floor because the exterior seal was not tight enough. Counting the visit later this week for sticking steering wheel buttons, a mildew smell from the a/c, and parts that were replaced that now have to be replaced again, this vehicle has been out of my hands for almost twenty days in the six months of my ownership of it.

Ford Explorer vs. Chevy Trailblazer. The exterior styling is really what won me over. And also the 0% financing. I have not been very happy since the purchase. The dealership has been very helpful, but I am making to many trips in for repairs. Problems: --AC worked intermittenly. --Fuel economy avg. 16 mpg. --seatbelts lock up constantly. --Front storage is useless, the gearshift takes away from interior functionality. (you may not notice it on a test drive, but you will in real life) --lots of interior squeaks --loud road noise over 50 plenty of horsepower, but that only goes so far. I would not recommend the Trailblazer
