The 5300 V8 is now capable of running gasoline/ethanol fuel blends.

  • I agree with AlexP on autoride - 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

The autoride is really awful. The dealer said it would imporve stability but it makes the SUV handle like a drunken cow. It is terrible to drive in the highway and almost impossible to keep on the road. It feels like one of those old Caddilacs with Jello shocks with the tire air pressure at 6 pounds. We have a small boat and it feels like a 19 foot boat in 5 foot seas. It wiggles and wobbles and sways around where you need dramamine. Awful. Other than that and the gas mileage it is a great truck, or would be without the autoride.

The 5.3L is not as snappy as I thought it would be. A friend put dual exhaust on his, and gained 10+ HP plus gas milage. On a 2000 mile road trip, we averaged 19 mpg - however, if you go over 80, that turns into about 12 - 14

My Tahoe came with a set of wind detectors. They are located in the rear wheel wells. You would think the dealer would want to fix this.

  • Autoride Alert - 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

Beware. Do NOT get the Autoride option on this vehicle. I have had mine to the dealership three times because the vehicle is extremely unstable. It feels like the vehicle is in a constant crosswind and the driver has to fight to keep it on the road. My wife is afraid to drive it. Any road irregularity and it bobs, wiggles and undulates while trying to wander right or left. The autoride system is constantly trying to keep the vehicle level or adjust to the road but it ends up causing gyrations that frighten me. Instead of being relaxed after driving it I am stressed and on edge. Autoride in my opinion is unsafe and a hazard. DO NOT get the autoride

Weve had our tahoe for over a year now. Ours has no 3rd row seat and the cargo area is used to transport our dogs. We shouldve bought the suburban and that is my advise. Just get the bigger one and get it over with, the size is less overwhelming over time and you actually get use to the size. All in all awsome vehicle and would buy another one, probably the Yukon XL, since its a bit more attractive. A rattle in the dash is been bugging me too.

  • 2002 Tahoe LS 4x4 w/ 5.3 - 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe
    By -

Great power, smooth ride and lots of space! I have also been getting good gas mileage (18-20.5 mpg). However, I am dissapointed in the interior. The fabric on the cushions of my seats was not sewn well at all. Also, after riding in a Toyota Sequoia, I realize how small and relatively uncomfortable the Tahoe back seat is. Also, despite its weight and wide tires (265/70 R16), it gets blown around in the wind. When you have a substantial side-wind, you get a lot of leaks in the door and along the floor. One more thing, the bench seat option doesnt have a good range of adjustments for the seats. Short drivers might have a hard time. Im 61" and I keep the seat as high as it will go.

I bought mine during the $2002 rebate and for invoice less the rebate. The only options on mine is the 285hp engine, rear liftgate, and raised letter tires. At exactly $28k plus TT&L this truck is a bargain. Im getting right at 15mpg city (with fairly conservative driving.) It is quiet, smooth, and very well done. I had a 96 Tahoe. Almost loved it but the brakes were terrible and the design was sloppy. GM has nailed these new SUVs, and I am very pleased. If reliability proves good, Ill call it just about perfect.

  • Our Tahoe - 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

The Tahoe has really opened up our eyes to Chevrolet. As current BMW owners (2), we considered BMW and Acura. We bought the Tahoe and are pleased with our choice. Well built (so far), good looking and large enough to haul "stuff".
