The smaller 4.8L engine is a bit under powered. Im getting about 16 MPG on average. Mixed city and highway driving. Mileage could be better. Breaking is weak. If you haul large load, consider aftermarket breaks. Goes great in the snow and off road. Smooth when driving on the highway with stock tires. Visors are a bit small could be a bit longer to cover width of the side windows. Interior is dated.

great for road trips, even when towing a fairly heavy load such as a 5 wheel. day to day gas mileage sucks with the 4.11 rearend... but you can almost pull a house off the foundation!!!

This is my third and final Tahoe...I thought the 95 and the 99 Tahoes were much more comfortable in their rides...this 01 gives a more trucklike ride..the cargo capacity is also smaller. The smaller engine didnt save anything in the gas milage dept. I also found rattles in the front end...the rear tailgate window came off its hinge. I think there is better value out there in the future....

Overall I am very happy with my Tahoe. I have a some engine noise and rattle in th front suspension which the dealer takes care of when I go in for service but they seem to come back within a few weeks. The worst part of the vehicle is the automated climate control system (CCS). It seems to do things that are contrary to rational thought. For instance, it could be 30 below and the auto CCS wants to turn on the AC! Ive given up on it and run the system mannually.

  • Great vehicle NEEDS NEW PASSENGER SEAT. - 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe

I have enjoyed my Tahoe and the only problems I have is the passenger seat is very uncomfortable. The drivers and back seat are GREAT. This is the second one I have owned and the front passenger seat was a problem in the first one. I wont buy another one until the problem is fixed. The seat belt is also very uncomfortable and choking.

The only problems I have had with this vehicle has been the heating element in the driver side mirror, the door strap hinges squeeking, and carbon buildup in the throttle body which caused a sticking gas peddle. The dealer replaced all hinges under warranty, I havent had the time to get the mirror repaired. I got rid of the carbon build up with a Tornado.

I love the way this truck looks, rides, confort, Great in the snow. One Mojor complaint Lousy gas miliage only 11 mpg. For the money I would have gotten the Suburban version instead. The mpgs would be the same and Id have more room. Brakes are so-so leave plenty of distance
