Overview & Reviews
The base trim level has been dropped. New for this year on LS are standard six-way power driver and front passenger seats, heated outside mirrors, exterior side steps that make getting in and out easier and the HomeLink system that can be programmed to control automatic garage doors or community gates all from one keypad. 5300 V8s can now burn gasoline/ethanol mixed fuels.
- Choice of powerful Vortec V8s, cavernous cargo space, room for nine.
- Gas guzzler, its massive size is a liability in urban areas.

Love my Z71 - 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
By Waveho - May 14 - 2:00 amUpgraded from a Mountaineer with child #2 on the way. Roomier than the Expedition, with a great 3rd row, and lots of cargo room without even putting up the 3rd row. Opt for the 2nd row capts chairs so that it is easy to reach the last row. Lousy on gas, but really not much worse than the V8 in my Mountaineer. Cant beat the comfort for the long trips.

No brainer - 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
By carzilla - March 13 - 2:00 amWe sold our 00 Honda Odyssey after #3 son came along as it was just too small. I choose this vehicle through a process of elimination and was quite pleased to find that it drives better, is quieter and is more comfortable than the minivan in every way. If you need something this big I highly recommend it. There are really no good alternatives for 3+ kids to ride in comfort and safety. Please dont put your children in rear facing wagon seats (Mercedes, Volvo, etc) which are in a crumple zone.

Saved me in a crash - 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
By daveNC - December 24 - 2:00 amAfter owning my 02 Suburban for only six months, I nearly totalled it when another car accidentally forced me off the road into a tree head-on (frontal- offset, drivers side). While the front of the truck was pretty much destroyed, I was able to hop out of it without even a scratch. Its a great truck. With four kids, you can be sure Ill be getting an 03 -- its comfortable AND safe.

My Z71 Suburban - 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
By Schredder - July 13 - 2:00 amI really like my new Z71. The looks are super and everything is well thought out and the build quality seems excellent..........at least compared to the poorly built new TrailBlazer. Give us bigger engines !!

Bigger is Better - 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
By 3lakeswi - March 7 - 6:12 pmTraded in a 2001 Yukon for the 2002 Suburban and the ride, acceleration and mileage are similar. The Z71 affords a stiifer ride and should since it is the "off road" suspension. The General delivers a more highly refined and better built vehicle than ever before with the Suburban. My wife has a Toyota Sequoia and the Suburban and Yukon were both head and shoulders above the Toyota in every aspect.
