Overview & Reviews
The Suburban gets numerous functional enhancements for 2003. The Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system is now available on 3/4-ton models for increased maneuverability and better stability when towing, while 1/2-ton versions now offer the StabiliTrak stability control system. New power heated mirrors feature puddle lamps, in-glass turn signal indicators and a memory function, and extendable power camper mirrors are optional. The interior gets numerous upgrades that include tri-zone climate control, an enhanced driver-information center, a redesigned center console and options such as second-row captain's chairs and adjustable pedals. A revised lineup of entertainment options includes a Bose audio system as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, the Suburban now features a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags.
- Choice of powerful V8 engines, Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system, cavernous cargo space, room for nine.
- Massive size can be tough in tight confines, vague steering feel, cheap interior plastics.

Best SUV Owned - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By Lezley - July 25 - 2:00 amAfter the birth of our third child we need something large to bus our rambunkious family. The suburban is the fourth SUV we have owned and it is above and beyond the BEST SUV out there. It is fun to drive and handles much like a touring car despite the size. We like it so much we are considering the purchase of second suburban (his and hers).

Love it - hate it - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By Tina V - July 25 - 2:00 amBought the car because of what it offers -- cargo capacity with ample room left over in the trunk, which I couldnt find in other comparable vehicles. Not impressed with the quality. Have had 2 transmissions (within 20,000 miles). Still having problems. Other minor irritations exist. Its a great driving car for long drives and we have enjoyed it for that reason alone and piling up the tents, coolers, baseball gear, kids, etc. Strictly for that, I stick with the car and do like its styling. Its a macho machine. I just wish our ownership experience didnt include so many trips to the dealership!

Suburban, A fun ride - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By sahm3 - July 6 - 2:00 amWe purchased a Suburban LT recently because we needed a vehicle with towing capabilities, as well as enough room for our three kids, their friends and luggage etc. when we travel. We will be towing a 26ft travel trailer as well as occasionally a boat. We had a Chevy Venture but could not tow with it. We also wanted 4WD so that we can get to work etc. during snow as we live in the North East.

Too Easy - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By TreeUnder - December 10 - 2:00 amI just love the 03 Z71 exterior styling and suspension. Ride comfort is not compromised at all. Room is cavernous and the powered/heated leather seats are (driver/passenger) are a awesome. Too bad at time of purch, zero percent only avail at 24 month term.

I LOVE MY TRUCK - This thing doesnt break! - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By Dan - October 17 - 9:28 pmBetween 110,000 and 173,000, my most major repairs were replacing a light bulb and clean out a clogged mass airflow sensor. The rest was tires, brakes, shocks, fluids, and a wheel bearing. Ive averaged $81/mo over 5.5 years in maintenance and tires. Way cheaper than anything Ive ever owned and more than compensates for the gas mileage. It is very comfortable for me (64" 210lbs) and I can ride for hours. My only complaint is the rust. I was able to have the insides of the bottoms of the doors ground down, sealed, and repainted and that has held off that rust fairly well. BUT, the rockers, quarters and fenders are rotting very quickly. They probably got worse as I was typing. However, I love my truck so much that even at 173k, I may spring for new panels and paint.

2003 Chevy Suburban LT 2WD F - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By Easyserve - June 5 - 9:18 pmThis vehicle was purchased off lease in 2006 with 35,000 miles and aside from tires brakes engine oil & transmission oil changes this Suburban has had very little repairs needed - with 1 instrument cluster(dashboard display of speed, fule, temp, volt & tach) and 2 water pumps in the duration of ownership through present day with having now 191,000 miles - still on original drive train. Never really babied the thing as I have been running I-95 up and down the coast many of times as it is a pleasure to drive - even with a full load in back, 5 people seated comfortable and trailering with full load. The only modifications I have made to the truck was a K&N intake kit and Gibson Exhaust for added HP. My only wish list for this vehicle is a 4WD version. It will be a sad day if I have to part with the vehicle.

The Best One Yet - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By JGS - March 17 - 2:00 amThe 2003 is the fourth Suburban we have owned, and the third body style. We have always had pretty good luck, and we still own the last one, a 1994 with 158,000 miles. This is a great highway vehicle, its tight and very nimble for its size. Wouldnt think about another vehicle for towing the ski boat. We started buying them as family vehicles 20 years ago with 2 baby seats in the second seat, but we are now empty nesters (except for the Lab)and have bought another. We are fans.

Great SUV -Z71! - 2003 Chevrolet Suburban
By Pasta - March 17 - 2:00 amGreat SUV! If youre looking for a family vechicle and dont want to be Minivan person...this is the SUV for you...not great on gas...not bad either considering the size and the power...on long trip I average 17 mpg...naturally slightly over the posted speed, though if you stay at 65 mpg or below the consumption improves to about 20 mpg. Overall, if you undecided and want my advice...GO FOR IT!
