This Year's Model Updates:

The Silverado gets a makeover this year that includes a new front fascia and revised side moldings and taillights. Top-of-the-line models get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. On the inside, the Silverado is the first full-size pickup to offer a Bose stereo system and XM Satellite Radio. The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and Chevrolet has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center and a dual-zone climate control system. For increased safety, Silverados now feature a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags. On the hardware side, all 4.3-liter V6-equipped Silverados and California-emission V8s are now ULEV-certified, while electronic throttle control is now standard on all V8 engines. The Autotrac four-wheel-drive system has been modified for less intrusiveness at low speeds, and the brake system received upgrades that provide better pedal feel and improved overall performance.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

I really like this truck so far. At 6000 mi, everything seems okay. Hopefully the piston slap problem wont come up during winter.

The 03 SS is a great over all TRUCK as far as working, towing, going out with the family or simply cruising. It also has a Six Disk C.D. Bose System, XM Radio, and On Star System. On safety the SS has AWD system and upgraded breaks, 20" Al. wheels, and a throghty sounding exhaust system. That you cant say about Ford, all you got is a two seater with an engine and the bed is just for looks because you cant load it. If you want competition I suggest you wait for the upcoming Regular Cab SS with an upgraded 6.0L V8 putting out about 495HP and over 500 torque. This power is being generated with out a super charger unlike the Lightning.

I have bought a few chevy trucks before and this one is much like the rest. I drive my boss ford truck quite a bit and the chevy is much better in terms of comfort and ride.

Awesome Truck, I traded in a Toyota Tundra because I needed something a little larger. I hesitated to buy a GM ,but after the test drive I thought I would take a chance. WOW!!!! If this is a sign of how far Detroit has come I will never buy foreign again!!! The Power, The Room, The Ride, The build quality and lack of rattles is awesome. Highly Recommend!!!!!! I would recommend the 5.3 though.

We usually buy a new truck every two years. We have kept this truck because we both love it. It is so much fun to drive. My wife comes home from driving it and says I LOVE THIS TRUCK. The Quadra Steer is the best thing Ive every bought. No problems with the truck.

Our companys sixth Chevy Z71 Silverado Pick-up. Continuously a great truck: strong, reliable, roomy and beyond comfortable for every day. Whether on the construction site or out casual with the family... this truck is my favorite of the bunch.

  • TRANSMISSION TROUBLE - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THIS TRUCK SINCE I PURCHASED IT FROM LINDSAY CHEVY,DUMFRIES VA. IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 25 OF THE FIRST 30 DAYS THAT I OWNED IT. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, SO THEY PUT IN A NEW TRANNY. BEEN BACK SEVERAL TIMES WITH IT. SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN. SO THEY HAVE IT NOW MAYBE A NEW TRANNY AGAIN. SO GOOD LUCK

  • Phoenix SS - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I think this vehicle is light years better than my old 1999 stock 1500 Silverado. Except for the ride (which is very truck like) it handles very well. Almost European car like. It has lots of power but I dont understand GMs reasoning behind not offering a supercharger (at the very least, an option). This is, afterall, an SS. When you water down the name you hurt the image.
