This Year's Model Updates:

The Silverado gets a makeover this year that includes a new front fascia and revised side moldings and taillights. Top-of-the-line models get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. On the inside, the Silverado is the first full-size pickup to offer a Bose stereo system and XM Satellite Radio. The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and Chevrolet has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center and a dual-zone climate control system. For increased safety, Silverados now feature a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags. On the hardware side, all 4.3-liter V6-equipped Silverados and California-emission V8s are now ULEV-certified, while electronic throttle control is now standard on all V8 engines. The Autotrac four-wheel-drive system has been modified for less intrusiveness at low speeds, and the brake system received upgrades that provide better pedal feel and improved overall performance.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

  • Silverodoes are the best - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This truck is the best I have ever drivin or bought. The chevy trucks are the most reliable over dodge, ford, or any other brand. Chevy is number one.

I am satisfied with every detail of my new Chey Silverado. If I had to do it all over again, I would purchase this truck again.

  • Very Happy w/ this vehicle - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This is the first domestic vehicle I have ever owned and I am quite pleased. Initially I wanted a Toyota Tundra (influenced by years of byass) but became very annoyed with the lack of selection and price, so I took a chance on GM. At this point I have 12,000 miles on the truck and have had absolutely no problems other than the door seal squeaking a litte bit, a quick shot of silicon lubricant has solved that problem. The Chevy/GMC does sit a little lower than all of the other brands but I guess that is why it handles so nicely and there is still plenty of clearance for reasonable off roading.

  • This truck never worked a day its life! - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

I have owned several trucks-all of which have been GM products-and this one is horrible! The check 4X4 light is on regularly, even though this truck has not been in 4WD more than twice, and under no load. I had to have 3 injectors, a mass airflow sensor, the catalytic converter and all new plugs replaced at 41K-just outside of warranty. The wiper motor just went kaput at 52K, and the dealership service department has been less than sympathetic. This truck has been basic transportation and never towed/hauled anything! Never had to work a day in its life! As a-soon-to- be former loyal GM fan, Im going to trade it ASAP on a Toyota or Nissan.

  • Mixed feelings on my 2003 chevy truck - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I like the truck but it has many little flaws about it excessive wind noise interior noise level is high sqweaks and rattles in the dash or left door the ONSTAR system is a nightmare the voice command cannot understand my commands because of the excessive interior noise daytime running lights keep burning out I have not taken it back in to the dealer because every time I take it in it is not fixed right the first time or they damage something else or treat the vehicle like it is a chore to fix it overall if I could trust the dealer to fix it I would gladly take it in for the warranty work

  • My pickup - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

I really am enjoying this pickup. I had a 2002 and several improvements have been made on the 03 model, the new model no longer has vibrating rear doors, the build quality on my LS seems substantially better than the 02, the rear window defroster was a great idea since my 02 would fog up quite easily, the engine (5.3) has plenty of power, the electronic 4X4 works great, the satelite radio is amazing when combined with the Bose system. I test drove the dodge and the ford, Im not sure why some of the reviews rate them higher than the chev/gmc.

  • 1/2 Baked Truck - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Had the truck for 1 month & since day 1 there has been a loud noice caused by the vacuum assist pump. Evey guest rider asks "What the heck is that?" Even the dealer says its annoying, but there isnt anything they can do. This is my 1st Chevy in 21 years & it appears that their products are still 1/2 baked.

  • My Silverado SS - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

Of all the hot trucks this one satisfied all of my desires. Fast, great looking, functional, can carry more than two people comfortably, able to really carry something in the bed and tow at the same time.

  • Good Truck - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
    By -

I have had my truck since May 2003. I havent had any problems except the throttle body had to be cleaned under warranty and the intermediate steering shaft had to be fixed under warranty. Otherwise this truck has been very fun and useful and totally reliable. I plan to keep it a long time! Gas consumption surprisingly good!
