Overview & Reviews
The Silverado gets a makeover this year that includes a new front fascia and revised side moldings and taillights. Top-of-the-line models get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. On the inside, the Silverado is the first full-size pickup to offer a Bose stereo system and XM Satellite Radio. The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and Chevrolet has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center and a dual-zone climate control system. For increased safety, Silverados now feature a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags. On the hardware side, all 4.3-liter V6-equipped Silverados and California-emission V8s are now ULEV-certified, while electronic throttle control is now standard on all V8 engines. The Autotrac four-wheel-drive system has been modified for less intrusiveness at low speeds, and the brake system received upgrades that provide better pedal feel and improved overall performance.
- Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
- Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

What is this? - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Dbruce - July 1 - 10:43 pmI am or was a loyal Chevrolet customer. Well im sad to say that this truck has changed my mind. I have had multiple problems with it. From tail light to water pump. The quality of my 91 was way better. The worst part of it was when the warrenty ran out ( it had 36200 miles and they wanted to charge me for fixing a problem the hadnt fixed in the past) Chevrolet decided not to stand by their product. Really disapointing, well Toyota here I come.

5th Chevy truck owned - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Kevin - June 11 - 6:23 pmThis has been my 5th Chevy truck since 1990. Ive had some good ones and some not so good ones. This one so far is good except for some squeaks from the extended doors and a clunking noise in the steering. The gas mileage from the 4.8l is good at around 20mpg. The power is there when you need it. Over all this has been a good truck so far. The service department just needs to get a few bugs worked out and Ill be very happy.

Need better Quality - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By T.Longino - May 31 - 10:00 amI repair many vehicles in my area. I have always been a GM owner, But GM is getting to much electronic junk on their vehicles. The GM dealers are having trouble keeping them running. Delphi company is killing GM. Vehicles need to be rated by serviceability.Check the hours it takes to replace a/c evaporator core in new trucks. I tell my customers to check labor time on most frequent replaced parts. Thank you

First Truck, First Chevy Owned - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By CEH1960 - April 11 - 2:00 amAll in All good experience. A crack in the Windshield at 5000 miles. I think a combination of Oklahoma roads and angle of the windshield. Seems like an awful lot of chevy trucks in Oklahoma with a cracked windshield.

Chevy Silverado 2003 Best Yet - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Haywood - March 17 - 2:00 amThis is my second Silverado to own. They have made many improvements over the years. The 2003 are no exception. The Truck is very smooth ride even at high speeds. The 5.3L V8 has plenty of power to spare. The interior is very spacious and seats 5 very well.

What a great truck! - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Mr. Chip - January 11 - 2:00 amI traded in my Volvo XC 70 because I saw this truck at the dealership as I drove by every day for three weeks. I have not been disappointed. Plenty of power and compliments! Runs and looks great. Great build quality and very comfortable.

Nice - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By ljordan09 - December 17 - 12:10 amWe picked up the absolute most basic model. Since day one it is destined as a work truck. And its an excelent one. The only one problem is one blown tranny. But that was more our fault than anything. We didnt change the oil for 26,000 miles. Hey if it can hold on for that long, props man. I love how the base model is comfortable and the floor is plastic, the best part about that is no worries! I only have the V6 with 200 hp and im very surprised with 0-60 times. all in all, good job.

Most Uncomfortable - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Mark of MS - December 13 - 2:16 pmI loved everything about this truck, except the seat gives the most uncomfortable ride of any vehicle Ive ever owned or ridden in. I could never get comfortable in the drivers seat, not even on short trips. I couldnt stand to drive the truck anymore so traded it in. I did get an awesome trade on it (300 over Blue Book), so thats certainly a plus. I was very disappointed in the comfort level of this truck. It drives awesome, its quiet, and I never had one problem with it. If only the seat was even somewhat comfortable I would have kept it for much, much longer.
