This Year's Model Updates:

The Silverado gets a makeover this year that includes a new front fascia and revised side moldings and taillights. Top-of-the-line models get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. On the inside, the Silverado is the first full-size pickup to offer a Bose stereo system and XM Satellite Radio. The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and Chevrolet has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center and a dual-zone climate control system. For increased safety, Silverados now feature a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags. On the hardware side, all 4.3-liter V6-equipped Silverados and California-emission V8s are now ULEV-certified, while electronic throttle control is now standard on all V8 engines. The Autotrac four-wheel-drive system has been modified for less intrusiveness at low speeds, and the brake system received upgrades that provide better pedal feel and improved overall performance.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

  • Great truck - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Bought used with 69,000 miles 2.5 years ago. I now have 115,000 miles with no problems. I regularly tow a 3000 lb ski boat and have a truck camper in the bed and the 5.3 L has no problem handling it.

Nice truck and fun to drive. Lots of options. Rides smooth, you would think your in a Caddy.

  • Never again, GM, Never! - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

My first and absolute last GM product, ever! It would be easier to list what hasnt broken or worn out prematurely than what has, with GM never taking any responsibility! (Quick list-Tranny imploded, water pumpx2, brakes a total joke, wheel bearingsx3, rust everywhere! and no, harsh environment except a heated and cooled garage, transaxle, now engine is bad have babied this truck from day one (Synthetic oil changes every 1500 miles), never towed or off road, never remotely abused or driven hard, Pure junk. I have bought new 6 Japanese cars, 5 American and two German cars and understand there may be some problems upon delivery, but to not stand behind your product I have found only with GM.

This is the first full-sized pickup I have have purchased since 1994 and I must say---wow! Comfortable, quiet, good in-town performance. This is a good work-horse and a marvelous cruiser.

  • I would recommend this truck to anyone. - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I purchased my 2003 Chevy Silverado (2DR, SWB, 2WD, Auto) at the beginning of the new model year. While I was somewhat impressed by the new styiling, I had a few doubts. Over the past months I have grown to love the look (with the addition to a few after- market accessories). The truck rides like a car, on and off road, and has the feeling of a luxury vehicle. Ive never experienced any problems and Chevy has made sure that I never will. After driving every other truck out there, I would highly recommend this particular one to anybody (let me add that I have only driven Ford until this point!). Keep it up Chevy.

  • One Awesome Truck - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This truck is the best truck I have ever owned, my 4th of the GM full size family. Its a Z71 with 151,000 on it now and have no problems at all since I bought it in 05 with 70,000 on it been camping to remote destinations, driven on trails, and even hauled several pallets of sod in the bed. Its extremely comfortable and rides like a car. Have made many comfortable trips with the family in it and no complaints at all. Never broken down only have changed the battery once by choice with an Optima yellow top. Only cost is oil, wipers and 3 sets of tires. This truck it truly built like a rock and takes the abuse of 2 boys 3 dirt bikes and many off road outings to have fun.

  • Nice truck! - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I started to buy a Ford, but once I drove the Silverado I was sold. It has more than enough power from the 5.3 vortec. The Ford didnt even compare, I couldnt believe the difference. Silverado has the best ride, and is the most plush of the big 3 trucks. Love the looks I get while driving it! Its a very nice looking and well built truck!!!

This is the best looking & performing pick-up Chevy has ever built. It really turns heads. Enough said!

  • One tough (& impressive-looking) truck! - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This truck gives one a sense of "full control" -- as to its road handling abilities. It handles pot holes and bumps very effectively, resulting in a smooth ride. The 4.8 liter V8 provides more than enough power; in fact, I had to add sand bags for added weight in the bed to reduce spinning tires on takeoff. The engine is also ultra-quiet - even with the hood raised. The only concern so far: on occasion, under during certain low speed conditions, the drive train can be "jerky" on accelleration. Overall, the truck lives up to GMs reputation -- and, is truly built "Like a Rock."
