Very Nice! - 1999 Chevrolet Lumina
By Josh - August 2 - 8:33 pmI bought my 99 Chevy Lumina 2 years ago with 83000 on it. I currently have 127,000 miles on the car and never had any problems. The power of the 3.1L is outstanding, especially with the low end torque. Im currently getting an average of 29-30 mpg on the highway! Great car is all i have to say! Nothing but regular maintaience and it still runs like brand new! this is exactly the reason why I buy GM products. Nice job Chevrolet!

Great car - 2001 Chevrolet Lumina
By linda howell - July 15 - 1:25 pmThe Lumina has been a very dependable car. We have gotten about 38 miles per gallon on trips from NYS to North Carolina. This is better than our 2005 Toyota Camry. It is roomy and comfortable.

Great family car - 1998 Chevrolet Lumina
By Farrah - July 12 - 3:25 pmThis just replaced our 98 Cavalier with 112,000 miles. Our 98 Lumina has 48,600 plus miles. Runs smooth and like a champ. Great on gas.

Lumina is OK - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By Rob - July 7 - 2:03 amIve had my Lumina for 4 years and its been a 6 out of 10 car. In the last 2 years Ive had to replace the battery, alternator, starter and water pump. Ive heard a lot of bad things about Luminas, mine has been alright. It cruises great down the highway and the gas mileage is decent for such a big car. My family and I feel very safe when were in it. There was 82800 miles on it when I bought it and now it has 147000 miles. The transmision has some issues lately, I was thinking of replacing old betsy. For what I paid for this car, it has served me well. If you need a car and you come across a Lumina with low miles and a decent price, consider buying it. If not, buy an Impala like Im going to.

My Chevy - 1997 Chevrolet Lumina
By My Chevy - June 24 - 8:50 pmI never expected to drive this car to over 194,000 miles, but its amazing what you can do when you change the oil every 3,000 miles. Ive had the fuel pump replaced, 2 fuel injectors replaced, and the alternator replaced. Not bad for this many miles. Never had a problem with starting it up, even in the dead of winter. But the best thing is probably that I can still get up to 33 mpg on the road. And thats with a 6-cylinder 3.1 liter engine!

1992 Lumina - Odometer 48,000 miles - 1992 Chevrolet Lumina
By Lumina Fan - June 13 - 4:11 pmI purchased my 1992 Lumina in 1994 from a couple who entered a nursing home. Ive had very few problems with my Lumina. Wish they still made this model. Chevy probably didnt because people were hanging on to them too long! Theres only 48,000 miles on the odometer (yes, thats the correct number) Right now, the Lumina does need some minor repairs - hoses, tires - I get a complete tuneup every year, but I now have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt, so Im afraid I will need to sell my Lumina. Ive never had a car that lasted so long with so few problems! I only hope the Cobalt will do as well.

Very Reliable - 1998 Chevrolet Lumina
By Mr Sensitive - June 13 - 1:08 pmI bought this car new for my wife in 1998 in Houston Texas to replace her 1986 Chevy Monty Carlo. It has been a very reliable and exellent car to drive. Relatively good gas mileage even today in 2008. I get 25mpg on highway and 21 mpg local. I currently drive it back and forth to work about 26 miles round trip. Only repairs, turn signal switch and alternator. Had a small oil leak that I used some stop leak on the last oil change. This seamed to stop the leak. Changed plugs at 105k mile. Currently has 116,000 miles on it and still rides pretty smooth. Chevy should bring this vehicle back into production . I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Very reliable car - 1998 Chevrolet Lumina
By Jim - June 3 - 9:22 amI bought my 98 Lumina in 2002 with 105K miles on it for $2800. Now it has 203K miles and still runs perfectly. Still looks good too. Have done only routine maintenance. I have definitely gotten my moneys worth. I hope to get another 100K miles. Smooth, quiet, comfortable ride, 30 mpg highway. What more could you want for basic transportation? Too bad Chevy stopped making Luminas.

Its reliable - 1996 Chevrolet Lumina
By Stephanie - June 1 - 6:42 pmAlthough I bought a gently used 2004 Camry today, I am sad to say goodbye to my Lumina. It has been an excellent car to me. Its no longer aesthetically pleasing, theres lots of rust, dings, and dents. But it has never failed to start and get me where I was going even in two feet of Ohio snow. During this extensive ownership period, beyond regular maintenance Ive only had to replace a water pump, an alternator, and an EGR valve. None of which resulted in a breakdown, just poor performance until it was fixed. Oh, the power steering pump is noisy, but still works fine. Id recommend this car to anyone as a used vehicle. Still seeing lots of them around. Still strong after 135,000 miles.

By frank - June 1 - 8:23 amPurchase the car in Feb 2002 with 25k miles and still driving it 2008 with 90k miles. Overall good value for the price. Intake manifold gasket needed replaced and couple of check engine light problems are the only issues.
