Overview & Reviews
GM has resurrected the Impala nameplate (a staple in Chevy's lineup from 1959 to the early '80s and then briefly from 1994 to '96 ) and put it on an all-new full-size sedan body that rides on the Lumina front-drive platform. Although the Lumina itself is back for the 2000 model year, Impala will eventually replace it as Chevy's large-car entry to battle the likes of Ford's Crown Victoria, Buick's LeSabre and Chrysler's LH cars.
- Six-passenger seating availability, big brakes, torquey V6 engines.
- So-so styling, no V8, big front-drive cars rarely sell as well as big rear-drivers.

Weve Gone a Long Way - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By RC - March 17 - 5:15 pmOur 2000 Chevrolet Impala sedan police package served us well just over 201,000 miles. During its time a repair here and there for us began around the 160,000 mile mark. It still has a smooth ride with the original shocks and struts. Received many compliments about the exteriors solid look from people, and they being surprised when asked about the mileage. A one of a kind look and dependable!

Impala Woes - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By derek8155 - March 3 - 2:00 amThis is a nice car but suffers from quality problems. I had to replace all 4 rotors 5 times in 100,000 miles due to warping. I also had numerous problems with the steering and shaking. The two things you dont want problems with are steering and braking. GM had no real solution to these problems so I am getting rid of it and buying a Camry. Its unfortunate as this was my first American car I have ever purchased in 30 years and probably my last!!!

Love My Chevy! - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By jingle - January 9 - 2:00 amOur chevy was a lease which we are buying out. Thats how good we like it. The ride is smooth and little exterior noise. Its really a full- size car and can seat a 6 ft 260 lb man comfortably. We purchased the upgraded sound system and its like having surround in the car. Gas mileage is above average for a full-size car, and our sun roof is heaven in summer time. Only problems were a few loose screws in the beginning - and the dealership was great at service. Theres been no knocking like in your other reviews of this car.

Great Car-But! - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By CLMcC - October 18 - 2:00 amI do love my 2000 Impala (19000 miles) but I am concerned about the intermediate steering shaft. I had a knocking/banging noise when driving the car, it was constant. I just took it in to have it repaired today. I hope my dealership will fix it properly. I have noticed other complaints about this problem also (that is why the But!). Really can not complain about anything else but GM should notice this problem.

road noise - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By bnelsor - October 15 - 2:00 amMy one huge complaint is the amount of road noise - it is unacceptable. We have been really happy with the car otherwise, lots of space, lots of power, very nice car.

love my impala - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By mz - September 13 - 2:00 amI am a realtor and drive alot of miles with customers. This is a nice automobile to drive in winter with icy, snow packed roads. It holds the road well, imparting a feeling of safety for passengers. It is comfortable easy to get in and out of. I really like my Impala and am thinking of buying the 2003 model. My only complaint is the road noise.

2000 LS - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By PMcG - September 7 - 2:00 amOverall very good. Upgraded tires (Continental CH-95s) made a significant difference. Have had occasional problems with hesitation while accelerating (improved some after servicing), the radio has become tempermental (reception), and had to have a cracked subframe replaced. A perfectly adequate performer for my needs.
