This Year's Model Updates:

The Impala receives significant updates for 2006. On the outside, Chevrolet has altered the Impala's styling with new headlights, taillights and wheels. The SS trim also gets a unique grille this year. Inside, the Chevy car features updated audio systems, a redesigned instrument panel, new seats, standard side curtain airbags and an available fold-flat rear seat. Mechanical changes include a stronger body structure, retuned suspension geometry for enhanced stability and improved braking systems. There are also new engines for the Impala: a base 3.5-liter V6, an upgraded 3.9-liter V6 and a new 5.3-liter V8 for the SS trim, which replaces last year's supercharged V6. Finally, the lineup of trim levels has been shuffled slightly to accommodate a new luxury-oriented LTZ trim.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, powerful and efficient engine choices, clean interior styling, standard side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Soft suspension and vague steering detract from handling dynamics, SS has to put its 300 hp through the front wheels.

  • Love My Car - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

I got my Impala in early 2006. I was stopped at red lights, car washes, and everywhere else by people complimenting my nice car. It is the best car I have ever driven. The only negative that I can report is that the tire monitoring system is extremely sensitive about the tire pressure being just right. The only option that the car doesnt have is automatic climate control. Other than that, it is the best car. When my lease is up, I plan on getting another one!

  • Love It! - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

I absolutely love the 2006 Impala SS. It handles like a dream and extremely fun to drive. I am not sure why it is categorized as a sedan because it performs like a sports car. You need to pay attention to your speed becuase you will fly in this vehicle without even realizing it. And when it switches from 8 cyl. to 4 cyl, you dont even know it. And if youre looking for an interior with roomy comfort, this car gives you that and does not look like you are driving grandpas car. Would highly recommend the SS.

  • Worthy Replacement for my DeVille - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Have had this car for only about 3 weeks now, but the longer I drive it the better I like it. Good ride, comfortable, quiet. Quite peppy with the 3.9V6, yet getting about 22 MPG city and 32 highway. I traded in a 2000 DeVille, and this car is a very worthy replacement for a fraction of the price.

This car is good. We bought this car as a demo with 33,000 miles. It has all of the options. The remote start went out at 52,000 miles. Thank goodness for the extended warranty on it. Right now the check engine light is on. Other than that in my opinion this is a great car. Rides over bumps that would take out other cars. I even rode over a cement parking border by mistake. No damage to the car

I own a 2002 Impala LS and I just bought this one. What a great car! The ride is smooth and quiet. It handles just great and the features included makes it a great value. Good job Chevy! Drive one, you wil agree.

  • Great Gas Mileage for a car of this size - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

This car is fun to drive and very quiet and gets great gas mileage. Very large trunk, outstanding brakes. A very good car for the money. A lot of useful options for little money

  • Best Car Ever - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

I am thrilled with the new Impala. A way better car than the Ford 500, and performance, fuel efficiency, and interior space are beyond the Camry and Accord. Interior styling fit and finish are awesome and a hugh improvement over prior Impalas and most of the competition. The plant that built it in Canada has the highest qulaity of any auto plant on earth according to JD Power, so I expect a trouble free ownership.

  • 35000 in one year and still going - 2006 Chevrolet Impala
    By -

I bought this car preowened after totaling my 05 impala and like the 05 not a dissapointment. The car origanaly had 25,000 miles when I bought it and in a year have put a little more than 35,000 more and have had no major mechanical problems just normal wear and tear. The only problem that I am having is that the the front tires bushings have too much play and are wearing out my tires real fast. At about 65k now the cars engine is still quiet runs smooth. No major complaints except the obvious much needed cup holders and in increase of quality like the seats fabric but that is minor stuff. The bigger issues are in the front suspension from the cheap brakes to the faulty bushings

The Impala SS is a solid fun to drive car. Fit and trim are excellent. I love the power and DOD as well. I miss my Trans Am but this car is much more comfortable and practical. It sounds great. All the neighbors had to come see it. Compares favorably against the imports...regards

  • Keep up the good work GM - 2006 Chevrolet Impala
    By -

I recently bought a 3LT Impala and am already convinced it is the best vehicle Ive ever owned. GM put a lot of time and effort into refining the exterior and interior with over 1,000 new parts compared to the previous generation. The 3.9 engine has lots of power, makes good mileage, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The car has an air of luxury about it, but without the price.
