Overview & Reviews
GM has resurrected the Impala nameplate (a staple in Chevy's lineup from 1959 to the early '80s and then briefly from 1994 to '96 ) and put it on an all-new full-size sedan body that rides on the Lumina front-drive platform. Although the Lumina itself is back for the 2000 model year, Impala will eventually replace it as Chevy's large-car entry to battle the likes of Ford's Crown Victoria, Buick's LeSabre and Chrysler's LH cars.
- Six-passenger seating availability, big brakes, torquey V6 engines.
- So-so styling, no V8, big front-drive cars rarely sell as well as big rear-drivers.

55K and no problems - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By palaperson - April 26 - 2:00 amI am sure that the problems that I see in the discussions are "fluke" OR that our state inpections are more rigorous than other states and, therefore, problems are spotted before they become more expensive. The only thing Ive had done is the front disc pads replacement in the 55,000 miles that I have owned this vehicle. I have had nothing but outstanding service from my dealership and I am still amazed at the comfort this Chevrolet provides. I was a former HONDA and TOYOTA fanatic, but now those cars are way overpriced for what you get!

See_the_world_today - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By dlw - April 4 - 2:00 am45K miles across 15 states (so far) in all sorts of weather. The Impala has been a comfortable and reliable commuter and a wonderful road trip car. Its fun to drive and easy on gas (30+ mpg going coast to coast in the summer). A spacious interior and a cavernous trunk means there really is room for a family of four on vacation for a week. Other than a minor accident (or perhaps vandalism - the external mirror was ripped off) and an act of stupidity (dont drop a foil candy wrapper in the cigarette lighter) it has been just scheduled maintenance.

Great Car: The New Chevy Impala - 2000 Chevrolet Impala
By tclaus - March 5 - 10:09 amI love our Impala. Its a sporty, yet functional sedan, which is something we were looking for when we had children. Easy to care for and drives great. 4 adults plus a baby seat fit well. Would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, dependable car.
