This Year's Model Updates:

GM resurrected the Impala nameplate last year (a staple in Chevy's lineup from 1959 to the early '80s and then briefly from 1994 to '96) and put it on an all-new, full-sized sedan body that rides on the Lumina front-drive platform. Although the Lumina itself is still with us for the 2001 -model-year, Impala will eventually replace it as Chevy's large-car entry to battle the likes of Ford's Crown Victoria, Buick's LeSabre and Chrysler's LH cars.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, big brakes, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • So-so styling, no V8, wallowy suspension, big front-drive cars rarely sell as well as big rear-drivers.

  • Great Car - 2001 Chevrolet Impala

This is the first GM Ive ever owned. I bought this vehicle new and have had it for two years now. Just turned over 50,000 miles. Besides oil changes and car washes, maintenence cost has been zero. Never been back to dealer since driving it home. This is without a doubt the best car Ive ever owned. It makes Taurus, Camry, Accord, Intrepid, etc. seem like junk. Impala has a much more solid feel and has been 100% reliable.

  • EXCELLENT DRIVING MACHINE - 2001 Chevrolet Impala

Edmunds is right, it might be call the Impala, but this beautiful front wheel- drive family sedan has little in common with the v8-powered rear-drive models of the past. It is a much better sedan. than the past, excellent performance from 3.4 V6 & 3.8 V6. And it is better sedan than Ford, Chrysler & Toyata.

  • The Only Problems Were Caused By Me - 2001 Chevrolet Impala

I only have about 5200 miles on this car, but they have been short trips, which is worse than highway driving. The gas mileage is excellent for such a large car (large by todays standards). The acceleration is also fantastic for this car. I think on the whole this car is outstanding except for its overall looks. (I do not think the crop of cars out there today are all that good looking, so my 7 rating of the Exterior Design is really a compliment). I slid on ice and damaged the front fascia, power steering unit had to be replaced because I hit a big railroad track, and mice got into my engine bay and chewed the wires. Exceptional.

Best car on the road for the price. I have had other makes (camery) the Impala is far superior, I test drove the Impala because I was board one day. The next day I traded in my camery and never looked back. The Impala is Roomy, great mileage, many features, nice seats, great looks.

  • Be Thankful for what you buy - 2001 Chevrolet Impala
    By -

I had a 1990 Chevy Lumina, that had ALOT of miles. My parents had purchased a loaded Impala,I loved it!! Well I am glad to report that I have one. Its a month old. I read alot of reviews on this,to have a car, one must put money into one. I LOVE my Impala. It has great gas mileage, roomy, and handles very well. I have four children and we sit very well in the Impala. People say it should have this and have that well you get what you pay for.I personally after being able to afford a good car after so many years of hard work am not going to complain. Unless you are a teenager wanting to go around with the radio wide open I think the stereo is just fine.
