Overview & Reviews
OnStar is now standard on all models, and a new Sport Appearance Package is optional on the base Impala. Other than that, changes are limited to minor trim updates.
- Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey and efficient V6 engines.
- Vague steering, soggy suspension on base and LS models, low-buck interior.

Front Passenger a Big Negative - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By Gogo - May 20 - 8:33 pmWe purchased the Impala in 2005. The five star rating played a big factor in our purchasing decision. We totaled the vehicle two weeks ago. Definitely not a 5 star in the front passenger seat. A person hit a cow on a state hwy and killed it and we came up pretty quick behind them at 65mph and had to run over the dead cow because we couldnt evade either direction. We went airborne with both air bags deploying. The first impact going over the cow wasnt bad but the airbags deployed and were not still deployed when we came down and hit the pavement and then bounced twice after hitting the ground. Driver received minor injuries. Passenger received head, neck, shoulder and back injuries.

Better car than I thought. - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By Ferm08 - May 11 - 3:33 pmI have only had this car for a very short time. I bought this car for my wife. I driven it a few times. This car drives very well handles good in the snow. Gas mileage is pretty good I hade to take it back to the dealer because the CD player stop working. It was replaced right away with no problems. So for this car seems to be ok. Knock on wood.

Love my Impala - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By JaniceB - April 23 - 11:28 amIve been very happy with my Impala. I dont think you can get a smoother ride from a front wheel drive car. Its very spacious, love the interior and trunk room. Its sharp looking and fun to drive. I bought mine off a corporate lease return, it had 72k on it when I bought it at only 3 years old. It now has 90k on it and still runs, looks and drives like new. Only problem I had was had to replace a wheel speed sensor at around 88k ($400). No other problems. Has been very dependable. A very nice, roomy, family car.

05 Impala (best decision I ever made!) - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By Nickalas - February 2 - 4:56 pmI have the top of the line SS Impala and I was suprised that the supercharged engine got such great fuel economy. And it has a little kick to it when you step on the accellerator.

2005 Chevy Impala LS sedan - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By Jim McIntire - January 1 - 8:22 pmThis car was purchased because the previous car owned a Pontiac Grand Prix was a lemon and a half and was traded in. My Impala was used with 24000 miles on it and now has 47000 miles and no trouble what so ever. Windows were already tinted and interior was what I wanted. Cannot ask for a better car and no complaints with the exception of the Goodyear tires and they are being replaced soon.

A Great American Vehicle - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By jgrein - December 12 - 7:00 pmI love my Impala. I have driven to Lincoln, NE and back and got 31.6666 miles to the gallon. Its very reliable. I do wish it had cushier seats, but, other than that, I really do love it. Thanks Chevrolet, for making a great car.

This is a great car. - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By mesanders - November 14 - 1:22 pmI have owned GM since I started driving. My last car was a 1991 Chevy Lumina Euro 2 Dr with a 3.1. Had to retire her after 290000 miles. Other than normal maintenance, oil change every 3 months, trans oil every 24 months with filter, the car still runs great and the new owner still gets 24 mpg with a heavy foot sometimes, just broke 300000 miles. This 05 Impala is a great car 28 mpg average 3.8 k motor 4spd OD trans LS option. Cant ask for more at this price. GM Certified Used Car, 5 year 10000 mile powetrain coverage from the original in service date with 12 months new car warranty coverage from the date of the used car purchase. I am looking towards another 300,000 miles.

Love of my life - 2005 Chevrolet Impala
By Rowen D. - September 21 - 1:13 amBought with 48000 on it, has been a dream ever since. I was in a serious head on collision, 79.4% damaged. Neither I nor my passengers were injured but my insurance on the other hand was in the ICU. I had the car repaired simply because I love it too much. Couldnt be happier.
