The Impala receives significant updates for 2006. On the outside, Chevrolet has altered the Impala's styling with new headlights, taillights and wheels. The SS trim also gets a unique grille this year. Inside, the Chevy car features updated audio systems, a redesigned instrument panel, new seats, standard side curtain airbags and an available fold-flat rear seat. Mechanical changes include a stronger body structure, retuned suspension geometry for enhanced stability and improved braking systems. There are also new engines for the Impala: a base 3.5-liter V6, an upgraded 3.9-liter V6 and a new 5.3-liter V8 for the SS trim, which replaces last year's supercharged V6. Finally, the lineup of trim levels has been shuffled slightly to accommodate a new luxury-oriented LTZ trim.

Best Sports Sedan Currently Available - 2006 Chevrolet Impala
By priggly - January 3 - 2:36 pmThe 2006 Chevy Impala SS is simply the best sports sedan currently available on the market. It combines the best features of a sporty ride and a long distance highway cruiser. It has a quiet cabin with extremely little road and essentially no wind noise. The engine power is exhilarating. The throaty exhaust note is just prominent enough to sound good without being overly intrusive. The car handles extremely well and yet is not overly harsh or rough riding. The BOSE audio system and XM radio are awesome. The engine shifts seamlessly, imperceptibly between 4 and 8 cylinders. The 4-speed automatic transmission is extremely smooth with seamless shifts and is a superb match for the motor.

Great New Car - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

From the throaty rumble of the dual exhaust to the excellent quality sound and comfortable ride this car has something for everyone. It has been a pleasure to drive and own. Friends and family love it too. I have lots of friends asking to take it for a drive or go for a ride. The price was great the only thing I would like to see added is a DVD Navigation System, cooled leather seats, and a little more thigh support from the front seats. This is a great all around car.

Best sports sedan in its class! - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

The acceleration is simply breathtaking and the handling very competent. The overall quality and fit and finish are easily the best in its class. The powertrain is smooth with an utterly seamless four-speed automatic transmission with nohesitation, unlike certain of the cars Japanese competitors. The Bose audio system is superb. The controls are highly intuitive and ergonomically excellent with large, visible gauges. The Chevy SS is easily the best buy in a sports sedan on the market today. Be sure you check it out before you needlessly spend more on the overpriced competition!

I love it - 2006 Chevrolet Impala
By Martina - October 29 - 10:46 amI picked up my 2006 Chevy Impala LTZ last week and I just love this car. The ride is very smooth, acceleration is excellent, its very quiet and handles very well. No rattles or loud wind noises. The interior is perfect for my taste. I can see and reach all the buttons with no problems. I think its great that the radio controls are also on the steering wheel. I love the size of the trunk and the flip and fold seats are so easy to use. I have more than enough space in this car. The built in phone is great, too. Overall I love this car and Im very happy I bought it.

GM is back ! - 2006 Chevrolet Impala
By Charlie - October 25 - 2:46 pmWhat a car, what a value! Out of the box with 185 miles on it, we drove Florida to Jersey and averaged 29.4 mpg. Around town about 23 mpg. Sure we could easily do 32+ now that we have some mileage. And oh so quiet and smooth. Of course, only GM could build an engine this good and in the USA!

Awesome - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

The enjoyment of driving a brand new, totally resdeigned car with a V8 that sounds like a lion purring is awesome. The recognition and attention that others have given are great too! This car is a winner and so understated. No problems so far, the dealership has been great and I couldn;t have had a better buying experience. Every day I wake up like its Christmas morning and I cant wait to drive it!

Performance of dream. - 2006 Chevrolet Impala
By jmatta - September 25 - 3:06 pmI am very please with the performance on my Impala SS.The power on take off is so inviting and tempting, (I may say) to break the traffics law giving you that Jekyl and Hyde personality battle. I have to admit it feel so good to turn it loose once in awhile and I am just glad I had not been caught up with yet.It does not end there,at cruising speed the transformation comes back,you could only heplessly wacht once again how you end up giving in to temptation so just go ahead enjoy the rush!

By Don - July 18 - 12:40 pmSmooth quiet ride. Exceptional fuel milage. I test drove the Toyota Camry and Buick LaCrosse. Both nice cars, but Impala beats them both hands down. Thank you GM for finally producing a car a that can compete in every way shape and form with the Toyota Camry. Keep it up and youll have a customer for life. We all knew you could do it, and you have with the all newly designed 06 Impala.

By Kevin - July 8 - 9:20 pmDriving My Impala is a real treat. I bought is for myself and cant keep my wife out of it now. Her car is a 2004 Venture Van. The style( a real head turner!) is great. My kids all want one and they are picky. The indash computer is awesome, like the instant mpg feature and oil life. It rides and drives like a real champ. Have driven a Limited edition Camry and wouldnt trade it for my Impala LS!
