This Year's Model Updates:

The Impala receives significant updates for 2006. On the outside, Chevrolet has altered the Impala's styling with new headlights, taillights and wheels. The SS trim also gets a unique grille this year. Inside, the Chevy car features updated audio systems, a redesigned instrument panel, new seats, standard side curtain airbags and an available fold-flat rear seat. Mechanical changes include a stronger body structure, retuned suspension geometry for enhanced stability and improved braking systems. There are also new engines for the Impala: a base 3.5-liter V6, an upgraded 3.9-liter V6 and a new 5.3-liter V8 for the SS trim, which replaces last year's supercharged V6. Finally, the lineup of trim levels has been shuffled slightly to accommodate a new luxury-oriented LTZ trim.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, powerful and efficient engine choices, clean interior styling, standard side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Soft suspension and vague steering detract from handling dynamics, SS has to put its 300 hp through the front wheels.

  • Excellent transportation at Chevy price - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

Purchased this car brand new 4/06. No repairs done on this car, only oil changes and routine maintenance. Most reliable car owned. Chevy has a real winner here. When I see foreign cars on the road broken down, I laugh at those "reliable" cars. Any car will break down if not cared for, i.e. keep up maintenance schedule, treat it right and it will take care of you.

  • A very high quality, high value used car - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

I just recently purchased a 2006 black SS with every GM option, including the gorgeous black leather seats, XM, 6 disc, Bose, sunroof, etc. The driving experience is nothing short of exhilarating! The ride is very comfortable and smooth, especially for a sport suspension. The lines are beautifully sculpted on this car, both inside and out! The sound of the ultra smooth V8 coming out of those polished exhaust tips is better than many classic hot rods! I am looking forward to many miles of thoroughly enjoyable driving. If you are looking for the ultimate drivers package in a mid/large size sedan, the Impala SS is your car!

I started buying two Impalas every year since first model came out. I love this car and never had any problems. All the luxury is there without paying a high price. Good gas mileage and nice pickup speed.

I have the 3.9L--LT Impala. Its a great car. Rather quick, very quiet and roomy. It can reach 28MPG HWY. Nice looking car and auto start comes standard.

  • Simply the Best Buy in a Sports Sedan - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

This car is simply the best automobile Chevrolet has offered for sale in a very, very long time, a grand example of sports sedan combined with high quality highway cruiser with its powerful engine, superior fit and finish, quiet cabin interior, awesome BOSE sound system and excellent gas mileage for its engine size (29.5 mpg at a steady 65 mph on the highway). The interior is superb with its high quality controls, gauge cluster, comfortable, quality leather seating, and general ambiance. Ergonomics are absolutely excellent. Handling, braking and transmission are top-notch. The tranny is especially smooth with effortless and imperceptible shifts. The exhaust note is exhilarating.

Just got a new SS. I went in to look at an old Jaguar, ended up buying new. I love the look of the new Impala (I liked the old one too). Im getting lots of compliments from co-workers, saying that it looks like a more expensive car than it is.

  • SS has no rival - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

My last car was a Ford, & I liked it a lot. Im not stuck on one brand, rather, I buy what I consider to be the best car for the money. The SS fits that bill more than any car Ive ever owned. I love the understated, clean styling. IMHO, simple interiors are best, & the SS is as straightforward as it gets. 18" rims are great, and like the rest of the car, tough looking yet classy at the same time. Love the heated seats, XM radio, & sunroof - options I had never splurged for in the past. Hwy ride is smooth, be careful, though...this car can get away from you! Mileage is function of my driving; can get 28 mpg on hwy if I need to, but fun factor of the V8 has me averaging more like 19 :)

  • Impala - One ups itself - 2006 Chevrolet Impala

After owning a 2003 Impala, I stepped up and bought into the new SS body style and design. I can say from the test drive I was hooked. The styling, performance and overal experience was better than I could have imagined. My 2003 was pleasing over the three years I owned it. This 2006 already has the comfortable feel of a well used ball glove. Power, handling, and styling this car has it all. Within the first week, I cant count the number of people that have come over to take a look and the car. Every one has made comments to the styling of the SS. Once again I am sold.

  • Wow! What a Car - 2006 Chevrolet Impala
    By -

This was my first Impala, and man am I impressed! It has everything you can want in a car, but it also has it under the hood. On a recent trip over the weekend, we drove from LA to San Diego, went sight seeing, and drove back on 1 tank of gas. Our average was 26.75 MPG. For any of you naysayers, who owned one and it had its issues. Name me one other car that doesnt have that problem. Made in America, and drives like a dream. Chevy has a winner here! If you are thinking of buying one, I would suggest the 3LT, it offers everything you would see in a luxury car for a affordable price.
