Overview & Reviews
Antilock brakes are standard on all models for 2006. Heated cloth seats are now available on the LT, the LS features body-color fascias and the LT gets body-color rearview mirrors.
- Long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, high crash test scores, available side curtain airbags.
- Limited choice in drivetrains, confusing stereo control layout, slow steering response.

Too much money for poor quality - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Elizabeth - September 6 - 9:46 amI purchased my Equinox in November 2004.After a couple months I took it to have an oil change there they found that the coolant in my my car was contaminated so I took it to the dealer and found that the cooling system had to be replaced, two months later the same problem occured this continued to happen 2 more times, then the cd changer had to be replaced 3 times, then the sunroof started leaking, then the breaks started giving me problems, then the drivers window had to be fixed.I complained to the company and requested a new car and nothing!I told them this car had to be a lemon, they thought giving me free oil changes was enough compensation.I requested replacement and nothing.

I am not going to complain. But over all I love it.

Great car - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Jessica - August 5 - 5:40 amI have had this vehicle for about two months and love it! The exterior styling of this car is sporty and fun. The interior could use a little work, but for the cost its pretty good quality. Gas mileage is reasonable at about 19-21. The leather driver seat is very comfortable, but the back seats are kind of hard. I love the steering wheel buttons for the stereo and cruise control, its so much easier to reach while driving. I traded my 01 Blazer for this car. Even though my old car was comfortable, I love how much more modern this Equinox is.

Capital "U" in Utility - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Ed Butera - August 2 - 8:52 pmAt just over 38K miles... Where this vehicle shines is its utility: weve towed an overloaded trailer from IL to AZ and moved an 8 couch in the cabin, just to name two examples. The cabin is spacious and comfortable (minus the stiff foam in the seats) for both people and cargo the fold-flat front seats and sliding rear bench are brilliant. It rides nice and smooth, though the suspension makes a lot of noise over bumps. Decent fuel economy, despite the outdated engine paired with an "unsure" transmission (it likes to hunt for gears on even small grades). Only problems so far have been the battery that quit and was replaced under warranty, and the squeaks and rattles that suddenly appeared.

Equinox - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By John Campbell - July 30 - 12:33 pmA nice replacement for my Jeep Cherokee. I hope it doesnt follow in the traditional Chevy style, by falling apart, and having cheap drive train components. The interior looks very nice, but it doesnt seem to be all that durable looking. It is very comfortable, and I think will deliver in the long run, but the jury is out. It took me 20 years to return to a GM product. I hope I didnt make a mistake. I paid $26k for a $30k sticker which is well equipped, including On-Star and XM radio. By the way the XM radio is really cool, but at $12.95 per month I can do without it. I know 4 people with this XM radio and none are re-newing. They need to get the price down.

Maintenace Headache - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Problems R Us - July 27 - 10:28 pmWe bought it in 2005 and it was fine for about two years. The tires barely lasted two years, then the rotors warped and had to be replaced. Thought it was over, then nightmare started with the ABS engaging under normal driving conditions. Sound familiar, well its a poorly designed system for the speed sensor. It means you will need to replace the complete wheel hub assembly and sensor....$390.00 just for the part. Better check the centre hanger bracket bearing for the rear axle on the AWD version, that fell apart too! Good luck finding that part. Yeah, its only three years old! Did I mention the heater box fell apart...no heat...a $90.00 part but $1000.00+ for labour to get it out!!

Equinox is underated - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Jim Eaton - July 25 - 8:16 amI purchased my Equinox after a failed attempt at downsizing from a mini-van. I first tried a Cobalt, then a Malibu, and finaly settled on the Equinox. On our first long trip (1000+ miles) we averaged 26.5mpg. The average had been slightly higher until we drove through the mountains to visit Crater Lake. I should note that we purchased the Equinox after considering a number of mini-vans. The mini-vans were discounted because of their pricing and poor economy.

unsure - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Brenda S IL/TX - July 24 - 11:36 amI have enjoyed my vehicle from day one, but, I am unsure about the design of the windshield, (angle), I have had to replace my windshield 3 times and need a 4th due to tiny rocks that have come from other cars on the road. I have owned other vehicle that when a small rock hits the windshield it MIGHT chip it but with the Equinox as I stated before its almost a sure thing that I will have to replace the whole windshield because the chips spreads immediately. Another thing that kind of makes me have doubts is the blindspots it has. I am almost done paying for it and I cant say will buy another.

Equinox Review - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By dparget - June 18 - 9:06 amLove driving this vehicle. Rides nice and smooth. Good visibility except for a small bind spot. Lots of leg room in front and back. Good storage capacity in rear. Good gas mileage for the size of vehicle.
