Overview & Reviews
The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.
- Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
- Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

Just Bought - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Sheryle - January 2 - 5:56 pmHaving survived a 45 mph crash that took off the front end of my 2002 Tracker, I can say that the Equinox feels very superior on the road. I agree that there are a lot of blind spots. Spot mirrors on the outside mirrors as well as putting the passenger rear seat down will help. Not smoker friendly! Ashtrays optional. Although I need to quit, I would like the option of an ashtray to store change if I do :-)

Warning Light Problems - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Nick Reichert - December 10 - 4:36 pmDifferent warning lights are coming on. Had to put the newly designed EGR valve on at 5,000 miles. Warning light for the steering keeps coming on. Right front strut bearing was replaced at 300 miles.Speakers in the two front doors vibrate. The dash board had a bad rattling noise. They put foam in to stop the noise. The air duct on the right side front under dash rattled, again fixed with foam.

Its OK for the price - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Wont do this again - September 23 - 8:26 pmThe down side is the interior noise level. If I dont play the radio it sounds like Im in a wind tunnel. The door seals are also a bit cheap. I have to wipe inside the door frame after I have the car washed or a heavy rain. Some time you have to slam the door to get it to catch. And, the interior floor is thin. The heal of my shoe has gone through the floor. Also, redesign the headlight assembly. You have to take most of the front end off to change the headlight bulb. But the most shocking is the resale value. I owe $4000 more than what the car is currenty worth.

Grasping onto optimism - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By heelngville - August 4 - 10:00 amVehicle has been in my position for 3.5 weeks now and due to arising problems, the vehicle has been in for service on 5 separate occassions. (A) The service engine light has come on 3x (B) A major component that operates the AC had to be replaced (C) The strut mount bushings now need replacing......after 700 miles. Fortunately I purchased an extended warranty. The dealership has extended excellent service in dealing with each instance. Being a first year vehicle, I realize that you will have "bugs" to work through, however I guess I was spoiled by the realiability of my Trailblazer. Aside from the issues I have experienced, the vehicle is great.

Equinox heaven - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Jeff Snow - July 25 - 11:26 amI was interested in the Equinox since last year. I finally bought one. Im extemely satisfied so far. The only problem Ive encountered is backing up in the dark. Its very difficult to see out the rear. I backed into another vehicle the second day I had the Equinox because of poor visibility. Other than that, Im pleased.

Dont buy a 2005 - you will regret it - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Brandy Duffield - June 23 - 6:50 pmThe car looks great, however, I have had nothing but problems, I owned the car a month and the rear differential had to be completely replaced. The AWD still doesnt work correctly and is always engaged, so if its raining its like driving on ice, literally! The gas mileage was supposed be 25+ mpg, its more like 16 or 17 mpg. I will not even put my daughters in the car with me anymore because I feel so unsafe when driving it, I should just sell it but I worry about a person safety that would buy it. I have contacted GMC with no response on their end.
