This Year's Model Updates:

The Equinox is an all-new compact SUV from Chevrolet. It shares a platform with the Saturn Vue and offers similar levels of space and versatility for buyers seeking practical suburban transportation.

Pros:
  • Standard V6 engine, long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, available side curtain airbags.
Cons:
  • Costs as much as the more powerful Saturn Vue, limited drivetrain choices, confusing stereo controls.

I purchased a 05 Equinox LT in may 04. I was initially going to buy a Kia Sorento but went with the Equinox after getting a great deal. The model I bought came with 6 cd- indash, 7 speakers w/amp, onstar, and everything else I wanted. It rides great, with the exception of over speed bumps, handles great too. the rear seats are roomy enough for 3 boys (including one thats 62"/220 lbs), there is plenty of leg room. The ride is very quiet and sturdy. no major complaints.

Overall a good vehicle. Very comfortable on long trips with an excellent lumbar control and drivers side seat with many positions to choose from. Actual mileage averages 18.5 mpg with 14,000 miles on the vehicle. The motor is fairly strong and responsive. There is ample room if youre going to haul a lot around. The rear seat movement is simply awsome. With the rear seat folded down there is more room than you would imagine for a vehicle this size. I would purchase this car again if I had too.

Great SUV for the money. I have had my Equinox for a year now (25K) and have had no problems...Knock, Knock.. The car is spacious inside and has great acceleration and handling. Very fun car to drive.

This is a fun SUV to drive, and great space, with the rear seat ability to slide back and forth, increasing leg room, or rear cargo space.

This is a very nice vehicle, fun to drive, and looks very good. every were i drive im asked about the vehicle. some people even think its a high end luxury import.(the attention is good) The only problem so far is the 6 disk cd changer which has started to give problems. i returned it to the dealer to check.

  • So far, so good - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Ive had my Equinox for almost a month now and so far the only problems I have noticed is the gas mileage. Far from the 19/25 on the sticker price. I think Im averaging out 16/20. Other than that, no problems at all. I love it and cant believe I waited so long to purchase my first SUV.

At 70,000 km, and on a vehicle only 2 years old a wheel bearing went along with the drive shaft bearing Dealership got GM to cover the parts but I had to pay for labor - not bad. Now at 79,000 km, another wheel bearing has gone. Not impressed - this shouldnt be happening on a 2 year old vehicle. GM is going to cover parts again at least. As for the other points of this vehicle - blind spot really bad at front windows near doors and towards the windshield due to the very large frame. Paint on console chips very easily. Trough at windshield collects a lot of snow, as well as the wheels and you are digging out both areas. Gas mileage could be better for the size of the vehicle.

  • Do more than a 5 minute test drive! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We have always been Chevy fans, but learned the hard way that a 5 minute test drive doesnt always give a clear picture of a vehicles space, comfort, or ride. The seats are so hard they are terrible for any drive longer than 1 hour. There is no place to put anything, even your purse, except for at your feet, which is a small enough space as it is. The ride in the back seats is like a truck-bumpy. The gas mileage is terrible! Our bigger, roomier mini van gets better mileage than the Nox. This averages 19--and the gas tank is far too small for this mileage, you have to fill up every 230 miles or so. It is overall so bad, we are going to take it in the shorts and trade it in!

  • Great little SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Weve had the Nox for about 4 months and love it. Gas mileage is about 20- 22mpg. No problems yet. Love the moving seat in the back - has tons of leg room. Just took it on a long vacation and it worked out wonderfully.
